About “Charlotte” in a few words:

Charlotte is a Japanese anime series created by Key, Aniplex, and P.A. Works. The show follows the story of Yuu Otosaka, a high school student who gains the ability to possess other people’s bodies for five seconds at a time. However, Yuu is not the only one with unique abilities, as he soon discovers other students with powers just like his. The series explores themes of friendship, self-discovery, and the consequences of having extraordinary abilities in a world that doesn’t understand them. With beautiful animation and an engaging storyline, Charlotte is a must-watch for any anime fan.

Meet the characters from Charlotte

Medoki

Oh gosh, Medoki is that gloriously oddball kid who pops up and instantly makes everything a little weirder in the best way. Quiet but somehow dramatic — like they’ll whisper a conspiracy theory about school lunches and then start doodling flowers, it’s adorable and slightly suspicious. They hoard snacks in their bag (mismatched wrappers, always) and can be unexpectedly deep about small things, which makes you want to ask more but also be respectful? Also, I swear they forget where they put their glasses like twice an episode, even though they’re wearing them.

Oikawa

Oikawa gives “calm storm” vibes, you know — very collected on the surface but with these tiny explosive moments of excitement that catch everyone off guard. He’s the kind of person who reads the room and rewrites the script, super practical, but also keeps some weird little hobbies (is that a taxidermy interest or just a very specific keychain collection?). Protective in a low-key way, like he’ll make you tea and then act like it was no big deal while secretly having planned everything. He’s reliable but has this annoying habit of showing up with absolutely ridiculous sunglasses.

Nao Tomori

NAO IS JUST ICONIC — sharp as a tack, constantly scheming, and yet absolutely fierce about protecting people she cares about (she’d lie through her teeth for the right cause, honestly). She masks a soft, gummy-center heart with sarcasm and sunglasses, and sometimes you can see her trying hard not to smile — which is the absolute worst because of course you want to make her laugh. Sharp-tongued leader energy but actually insecure about tiny stuff, like whether she’s being fair or noticed (self-contradictory queen energy!). She organizes chaos like it’s a hobby and probably has sticky notes in places you’d never expect.

Misa Kurobane

Misa is pure spark — loud, a little chaotic, and somehow the glue when things start falling apart, like a human duct tape but with glitter. She’ll yell first, think later, then apologize with a ridiculous snack offering because that’s literally her diplomatic strategy. Loyal to the moon and back, dramatic about everything (but genuine), and possibly owns five identical cat plushies that she names slightly differently. She can be impulsive and then super thoughtful right after, which keeps people on their toes and also very entertained.

Yu Otosaka

Yu starts off kind of a mess (in the best protagonist way) — smug, lazy, and delightfully petty about trivial wins, but also quietly carrying this huge weight he tries desperately not to drop. He’s a thief of attention and sometimes literally of bodies/abilities, which is terrifying and fascinating, and you spend a lot of time yelling at him to behave while also understanding him too well. Under the sarcasm is someone who’s learning to care like it’s muscle work — awkward, stubborn, and ridiculously tender at the wrong moments. Also, he’s a sucker for old video games and has an infuriatingly detailed talent for procrastination that somehow leads to heroism.

Ayumi Otosaka

Ayumi is sunshine wrapped in tiny, stubborn bravery — soft-spoken but with this core strength that sneaks up on you and makes the waterworks happen (every single time). She’s unusually calm for someone dealing with huge things and has this habit of humming to soothe herself, which is somehow both eerie and comforting. She collects small, silly souvenirs from places she’s never been (I mean, who keeps a spoon from a dream, right?) and insists on being brave even when she’s terrified, which makes you respect her like whoa. Tiny contradictions everywhere — quiet but opinionated, fragile but tougher than she looks — and it’s heartbreaking and lovely.

Shunsuke Otosaka

Shunsuke is the kind of person who makes fatherly advice sound like a punchline and then means every word, you know? Rough-around-the-edges charm, too many nicknames for everyone, and this weirdly specific playlist for every mood (also probably wore a leather jacket in the rain once). He can be goofy and sentimental in the same breath, and he hides his worry in jokes — classic but effective. Also, he has this annoyingly calming presence that somehow fixes panic just by rolling his eyes at it.
