Meet the characters from DanMachi

Asterius

Okay, Asterius — absolute unit of a hero, like a gentle boulder who somehow moonlights as a storm. He’s all muscle and silent intensity, the kind of fighter who doesn’t need to shout to make the whole room feel the floor vibrate, but also will fold a stray kitten into his cloak like it’s the most natural thing in the world (I’m not kidding, I think he has a secret soft spot). Fierce in battle, oddly shy in crowds, and suspiciously into simple comforts — soup, naps, maybe humming to himself when he thinks no one’s listening. Also, he may or may not keep a tiny, totally useless charm that he touches before fights, which is either superstition or the only source of his terrifying luck.

Revis

Revis is that cool, practical strategist who makes everything look effortless while quietly rearranging the entire plan in their head. Sharp-eyed and dry as toast, but don’t be fooled — they’ll randomly crack a weird joke about mushrooms at the worst possible moment and you will laugh, whether you want to or not. Loyal to a fault and suspiciously fond of small, pretty things (like, yes, an ironic collection of buttons), Revis balances keeping everyone alive with low-key emotional sabotage — again, in the most caring way. They’re the friend you want in a tight spot and the person who will forever roll their eyes at your romantically bad ideas.

Ais Wallenstein

Ais is iconic: sword, ice-cold stare, moves like a poem written by a hurricane. She’s the “quiet prodigy” trope but way deeper — lethal and graceful with a lonely vibe, except if you catch her off-guard she’ll do something embarrassingly normal like eat ten dumplings and not apologize. Serious about training, kind of absent about everything else, and yes she probably has a tiny diary where she doodles elaborate battle plans and possibly hearts, no one knows. Also she’s suspiciously attached to a certain someone, which she’ll deny with the exact same intensity as she uses to deny needing more sleep.

Ottar

Loud, messy, chaos-with-a-heart, Ottar is the guy who bursts into a room with three axes and a grin and immediately starts trading coins like they’re confetti. He’s greedy? Sure, but in the “treasure-hoarder who will sell you half his pile for a decent meal” way — very practical, emotionally functional hoarder. Brutal in a fight, surprisingly sentimental with his crew, and he sings sea-shanty-ish songs that are somehow charming and also slightly terrifying at 2 a.m. Oh, and he has this habit of adopting stray animals then pretending he didn’t, which is adorable and also suspicious.

Alfia

Alfia gives “wise mentor who bakes cookies” energy, but like, with a razor-sharp brain and maybe a sarcastic streak that sneaks up on you. She’s nurturing and strict in equal measures — the kind of person who will scold you for throwing your life away and then patch you up and make you soup, possibly simultaneously. There’s a bookishness to her (endless notes, sticky tabs, probably an impressive mug collection), yet she can flip into steely mode in a heartbeat when things go wrong. Also, rumor has it she once lost an important file because she was knitting, which makes her both infuriating and oddly relatable.

Zald

Zald is delightfully unpredictable — part prankster, part shadowy striker, all chaos in a very fashionable cloak. He’ll flirt with danger the way some people flirt with pastry: with reckless enthusiasm and crumbs everywhere, and don’t trust him when he smiles because that smile usually means something mildly alarming is about to happen. Surprisingly caring under the snark, he’s the type to steal your map and then lead you to safety because, you know, dramatic timing. Also collects weird trinkets from dungeons for reasons he refuses to explain, which is both mysterious and slightly gross, but whatever, it’s Zald.

Albert Waldstein

Albert is classy in a “stiff collar, impeccable swordplay, secretly huge soft spot” way — you can tell he’s noble, or at least trained to look that way, and he’ll correct your posture with the kind of gravity that makes you immediately sit up straighter. Very proud, very punctual, and very likely to lecture you on etiquette right after saving your life, which is peak Albert behavior. He obsesses over doing things the right way (and by “right” he means his way), but also has this infuriating habit of smuggling in tiny acts of kindness that ruin his stern image. Also he probably keeps a pocket watch and uses it to time his apologies, which is weird but oddly charming.
