About “Devils Line” in a few words:
Devils Line is a supernatural, action-packed anime and manga series set in Tokyo, where vampires coexist with humans. The story follows a young college student, Tsukasa Taira, as she falls in love with a half-vampire, Anzai, and their struggles to navigate their relationship amidst prejudice and danger. Along with a cast of compelling characters, the series explores themes of discrimination, identity, and the blurred lines between good and evil.
Meet the characters from Devils Line
Yūki Anzai
Okay, Anzai is peak brooding-protective vampire cop and I am here for it — he’s calm, almost painfully controlled, but you just know something ferocious is simmering under that coat. He wrestles with hunger and duty like it’s his full-time job, which makes him equal parts tragic and kind of ridiculously hot? Also he’s secretly a little awkward with feelings — super blunt one minute, then flustered and awkward the next, like he forgot how to human for a sec. He’s the kind of person who’ll save you at dawn and then try to give you sensible life advice while pretending he doesn’t care.
Tsukasa Taira
Tsukasa is sunshine with stubborn streaks — tiny, fierce, and way braver than she has any right to be, honestly, she just refuses to be swept away without asking questions. She’s a normal college-ish human who gets pulled into vampire mess and handles it like someone who’s been practicing empathy her whole life, and yes she cries but also punches when needed. She cooks (maybe badly? sometimes great?) and has this weird habit of apologizing even when she’s the one who should be comforted — very relatable, very annoying in the best way. She’s soft but not weak, curious but not reckless, and she keeps everyone — especially Anzai — from becoming total wrecks.
Hans Lee
Hans is that smooth, slightly theatrical vampire executive type who gives immaculate smiles and unsettlingly calm monologues — equal parts aristocrat and CEO, with a taste for drama and expensive tea. He’s manipulative and brilliant, the kind of person who can read a room and quietly rearrange everyone’s feelings like furniture, but sometimes he also does small things that suggest he actually cares? (Contradiction! I know.) He loves control and aesthetics — tailored suits, perfect posture — but is not above a low-key sad joke when the situation gets weird.
Takashi Sawazaki
Sawazaki is the gruff, seasoned cop vibe — older, solid, a little world-weary but totally dependable, like that one uncle who’ll show up with tools and a stern speech. He’s cautious and skeptical about vampires at first, but he’s got a moral core that makes him listen, and he doesn’t play favorites even though he 100% has favorites. He collects tiny habits — chewing pens, clearing throat before big lines — and occasionally surprises people by being unexpectedly sentimental (don’t tell anyone). He feels like the glue in a lot of chaotic scenes, practical and slightly stubborn.
Juliana Lloyd
Juliana is sharp, cool, and slightly inscrutable — the kind of brainy, elegant woman who seems to be always two steps ahead and quietly judging your life choices. She’s part investigator/part strategist in my head, with a soft spot for order and perhaps an odd little hobby like collecting pressed flowers or ancient book spines (I can’t decide, pick one). Her moral compass is complicated: she does terrifyingly logical things for the greater good and then fidgets when the emotional fallout hits, so she’s not a villain but also not a hugger. There’s this tiny, almost silly charm underneath all the professionalism that pokes through when she thinks no one’s looking.
Kirio Kikuhara
Kirio is loud, warm, and annoying-in-the-best-way — the friend who yells your name across a room and brings you ramen at 2 a.m., plus he’s ridiculously loyal to a fault. He’s energetic, impulsive, and gets himself into trouble but also gets people out of trouble with a grin and a punch, sometimes both at once. He talks too fast, laughs too loudly, and will defend his friends fiercely while also being the first to tease them about their sob stories. Honestly he’s the sunshine to someone’s thundercloud, messy and comforting and a little chaotic.
Takeshi Makimura
Makimura gives off very intense, by-the-book detective energy — serious, meticulous, kind of terrifying in a professional way, like don’t cross him unless you’re ready to explain yourself. He’s strict with rules but secretly judges his own rigidity a lot, which makes him oddly sympathetic if you catch him on the wrong day. He has a dry sense of humor that sneaks out like a blink-and-you-miss-it smirk, and he’s quietly protective of the people who matter (though he’d never admit it out loud). He’s efficient, a little haunted, and probably has an oddly calming playlist he listens to while filing reports.
