Meet the characters from Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

Jonathan

Oh man Jonathan is the human who fell head-over-heels for monster life and refuses to stop grinning about it. He’s chaotic and endlessly optimistic, the kind of guy who brings surfboards to a vampire family dinner — and somehow that feels perfectly normal here. A bit clumsy, very loud, and stubbornly kind, he’s the bridge between human weirdness and monster tradition (also he makes an incredible lasagna, I think?). He forgets small things all the time but never forgets to cheer for his friends, which is honestly the most important trait.

Mavis

Mavis is Dracula’s daughter but also her own person, fiercely protective and low-key rebellious — she’s soft but not to be messed with. She balances heart and stubbornness like a pro: wants peace and family but will throw down if someone threatens them, which is adorable and terrifying. She’s endlessly patient with chaos (mostly Jonathan’s) yet has these sharp, decisive moments that remind you she’s a leader. Small quirk: collects tiny souvenir spoons? Maybe that was someone else, but I swear she owns one.

Ericka

Ericka comes in all sleek and confusing — at first she’s this cool, scientific force with a plan, and then you realize there’s actually a lot of warmth under the leather jacket. She’s brilliant, a little secretive, and has motives that shift from revenge-y to very human, fast, which makes her thrilling to watch. Stoic exterior, quietly sentimental interior — she hates chaos but gets swept up in it anyway (sometimes on purpose). Also she’s very good at designing machines and at awkwardly admitting feelings, which we all love.

Van Helsing

Van Helsing has that classic monster-hunter vibe: disciplined, relentless, a bit obsessed with “fixing” monsters, but also weirdly principled. He’s the sharp contrast to the monsters’ messy warmth — all order, strategy, and a suspicious number of gadgets — and kind of terrifying in a hallway-meets-interrogation way. Deep down there’s a real conviction, like he honestly believes he’s doing right even when he’s wrong, and that makes him less cartoon-villain and more tragically committed. Occasionally he says something that sounds like a bad proverb and then explains it with charts.

Wayne

Wayne is the tired dad werewolf and I adore him; grumpy, wildly overprotective, and secretly sentimental about VERY specific family traditions. He’s got a low roar and a high capacity for chaos control — also his love language is guilt and snacks, probably. He’s hilariously over-aware of pack dynamics and yet will cry during a really dumb home video, it’s inconsistent and perfect. Quick aside: he hoards socks? Maybe it’s a parenting thing, I can’t remember exactly.

Wanda

Wanda is Wayne’s polar opposite in the best way: calming, endlessly patient, and quietly fierce when the kids or family need her. She manages chaos like a wizard and gives the kind of advice that fixes everything (or at least makes you feel better about your life choices). She’s a soft center with a surprisingly sharp sense of humor — can deliver a one-liner that’ll leave you laughing and thinking. Sometimes described as serene, sometimes as the actual boss, depending on the day, which is true either way.

Griffin

Griffin, the Invisible Man, is the awkward genius who loves gadgets and pranks and also believes in etiquette? He’s clever, a touch anxious, and uses invisibility for the dumbest giggles and the deepest empathy — he’ll listen when nobody else can. He flitters between shy and wildly inventive, often inventing solutions that are as questionable as they are brilliant. Little odd detail: he’s obsessed with hats even though you can’t see his head, which is somehow extremely endearing.

Murray

Murray is the dramatic mummy who brings theatrical flair and a surprisingly soft heart to every scene — he’s loud, nostalgic, and loves a good story. He’s the kind of friend who will cry at a reunion and then spin a myth about how he once dated a sphinx, possibly true, possibly not. Despite the theatrical exterior he’s loyal and grounded when it counts, and he enjoys comforting others with over-the-top gestures. Also he knows a million ancient recipes but only cooks half of them on purpose.

Dracula

Dracula is the patriarchal hurricane of love and melodrama, protective to the point of being hilariously overbearing but with the most enormous heart. He swings between ancient regal dignity and dad-joke chaos, and those mood-shifts are the best thing about him — terrifying one second, beautifully sentimental the next. He worries a lot, plans too much, and will embarrass his daughter and son-in-law with insane displays of affection, but you’d forgive him anything because he’s so sincere. He collects heirlooms and regrets in equal measure, which somehow makes him super relatable.

Frankenstein

Frankenstein (Frank) is the gentle giant with an enormous laugh and an even bigger capacity for friendship — equal parts muscle and marshmallow. He’s literal, sweet, a little awkward with emotions, and somehow the stabilizing force when the rest of the gang goes absolutely off the rails. Loves woodworking? Gardening? He definitely has a hobby like that — something wholesome and surprisingly delicate for a dude his size. Also slightly forgetful but in a charming “left my shoes in the fridge” way rather than a tragedy.
