Meet the characters from Idol Land PriPara

Amari Katasumi

Okay, Amari is that hilariously intense one who looks like he means business but probably cried once at a commercial — like, stern posture, clipboard, very “we must win,” but secretly hums show tunes at 3 a.m. He’s the kind of manager/authority figure who nags everyone about schedules and then forgets his own lunch and eats candy from a kid’s bag (don’t ask). Sharp, organized, and slightly dramatic, he keeps the group grounded but also gets weirdly competitive over trivial things, which is adorable and terrifying. He’s reliable in a crisis and also will dramatically stare into the distance for no reason, which you learn to interpret as “Amari thinking.”

Laala Manaka

Laala is sunshine in human form — bubbly, eternally optimistic, and convinced that friendship and song can solve literally everything, even broken vending machines. She’s clumsy in the most endearing way (trips over her own enthusiasm), but when she sings she becomes this unstoppable beam of pure heart, like a glittery motivational poster come to life. She cares so much it’s almost goofy, but like, genuinely inspiring — also sometimes forgets basic stuff like where she put her shoes, classic. Honestly, she’s the kind of protagonist you want to high-five and also tuck into bed with a warm blanket.

Mario

Mario is flamboyant and theatrical, the kind of performer who enters with a cape and an over-the-top wink — yet, plot twist, he’s also quietly thoughtful and reads poetry under stage lights, which feels both right and kind of suspicious. He loves attention but doesn’t need it to validate himself; he gives it back tenfold, flattery like confetti. He’s dramatic in the best way, pulling everyone into his orbit while somehow knowing when to step back and let others shine (most of the time). He has a million catchphrases and one secret fear of spiders, which he refuses to admit aloud.

Yui Yumekawa

Yui is adorably chaotic — like, she’ll invent a new dance move mid-practice and then apologize for being too loud five minutes later, sincere and slightly mortified. She’s full of energy and has this contagious giggle that makes rehearsals feel like sleepovers, but she’s also surprisingly perceptive about people’s feelings (gets deep real fast). Loyal to the bone, a little stubborn, and prone to impulse decisions that somehow work out, or explode, but hey, memorable either way. Also, she collects mismatched socks and will defend them as a lifestyle choice, so there’s that.

Shogo Yumekawa

Shogo has this calm, big-bro vibe — steady, a little teasing, the anchor when things get too sparkly or loud — but also will absolutely challenge people to ridiculous competitions at 2 a.m. He’s protective and quietly proud, never overbearing, and sometimes he’s the one rolling his eyes when the team gets dramatic (but secretly pleased). He’s the kind of friend who brings you soup and practical advice, and then cheats at board games and blames it on “strategy.” He tries to be sensible but has a secret playlist of guilty-pleasure jams that he hums when no one’s looking.

Shinya Oedo

Shinya is this hyper-creative, slightly off-kilter designer/director type who probably eats ramen with chopsticks while sketching outfits and making sound effects for dramatic effect. He’s quirky, brilliant, and the fashion sense of a mad genius — half futuristic, half retro toy store — and he genuinely believes every outfit tells a tragic love story (or a comedic one, depends on his mood). He’s the brain that makes the glitter happen, sometimes forgetful about names but never about silhouettes or color palettes. Also, he’s convinced his pet plant is judging him, which may or may not be true.

Pololo

Pololo is the cute, sparkly mascot-energy creature that exists to be adored and to cause tiny chaos — think plush ball of enthusiasm with a sass filter set to low. It squeaks in the background, has zero sense of personal space, and can somehow boost morale just by rolling by; also inexplicably has a taste for pickles. Mostly a walking emoji, but occasionally it drops a surprisingly sage comment that makes you pause and wonder if it’s actually ancient wisdom in disguise. Pololo is chaos wrapped in fluff, and you will forgive it anything because look at it, come on.
