About “Homestuck” in a few words:

“Homestuck” is an iconic webcomic created by Andrew Hussie, which later evolved into animations, games, and even music albums. It chronicles the adventures of a group of teens who start playing a computer game, only to find themselves embroiled in a complex tale involving alternate universes, mythological creatures, and the impending end of the world. The series is renowned for its intricate plot, unique characters, and the extensive lore.

Meet the characters from Homestuck

John Egbert

Oh man, John is that endlessly cheerful mess of a protagonist who somehow turns chaos into a party — confusingly sentimental and terrible at directions but always remembers the important stuff (like who owes him a waffle). He’s a prankster, a kid with a whoopee-cushion sense of humor and also kind of an accidental hero when things get dark, which I adore. He’s a movie-quote machine and somehow also deeply sincere, the sort of person who will both eat cake for breakfast and organize the battle plan (probably with stickers). Slightly clumsy, often confused, but quietly brave in ways he doesn’t brag about — also, I am 90% sure he hoards rubber bands.

Vriska Serket

Vriska is a total wild card — sharp, theatrical, and oh-so-calculating, with this whole high-stakes vibe (gambling with fate is her favorite pastime, apparently). She loves control, loves drama, and is magnetic in a kind of dangerous way; also has that annoying habit of rolling dice like it’s punctuation. She can be cruel and manipulative but there’s this weird protectiveness under it all, like someone who inflicts wounds to keep you close — not healthy, obviously, but fascinating. Flashes of sympathy peek through her grandstanding and she collects weird little trophies (maybe spiders? maybe regrets?), and yes sometimes she reads too much into omens but who doesn’t.

Karkat Vantas

Karkat is the grumpy heart of every group, an eternal yeller with a startling soft center — he screams a lot but secretly obsesses over emotional group cohesion and probably organizes everyone’s birthdays. He’s abrasive, stubborn, and convinced that shouting is the only form of communication that counts, but he’s also ridiculously loyal and human (in the best, most messy way). He’s obsessed with proper etiquette of… screaming? and has a flair for dramatic leadership, which he denies while muttering about how nobody else can do it right. Also contradictory: he’s terrified of losing control but also thrives on chaos, and yes he absolutely loves terrible puns when no one’s looking.

Rose Lalonde

Rose is all sharp edges and silver-laced sarcasm — the bookish, mystic type who writes enigmatic notes in her sleep and owns more candles than sense (but in a very organized, aesthetic way). She’s cerebral, enjoys unsettling metaphors, and hides a warm core beneath layers of sardonic commentary; she’ll recite poetry and then make you tea that tastes like tiny secrets. There’s a cool, slightly aloof vibe but also a ferocious intelligence and a weird fondness for knitting things that look like conspiracy charts. She’s both composed and quietly freaked out about the world, like a gothic librarian who sometimes forgets where she put her spellbook (or maybe she’s hiding it on purpose).

Dave Strider

Dave is the embodiment of ironic cool — sunglasses, deadpan one-liners, and a staunch commitment to being effortlessly perfect (which is exhausting and very intentional). He hides his anxieties behind layers of timing jokes and mixtapes, practices sword moves like they’re dance routines, and is somehow both blasé and intensely dedicated to his friends. He’s into beats, clocks, and looking like he just walked out of a music video, but also has these weirdly sincere moments where he’s baffled by his own feelings. Contradiction alert: supremely composed until the second something actually matters, at which point he becomes an adorable mess who tries to fix things with ironic gestures.
