She can be stubborn — like, “I will go take on a mountain” stubborn — but also sweetly compassionate, always checking in on friends and even strangers. Also, tiny random detail: she probably has a sticker collection and maybe once got scared of a thunderstorm? I feel like that’s canon in my head.

Boots

Boots is basically pure joy in monkey form — energetic, loyal, and the best sidekick ever; he’ll hype you up for anything. He’s super caring (will literally cry if you get a boo-boo) but also has this goofy, mischievous streak where he jumps into puddles and then pretends he didn’t. Loves his red boots so much he might name them, and he’s the sort of friend who trusts Dora even when the plan makes zero sense. Swiper

Swiper is the charmingly infuriating fox who’s always trying to swipe stuff — like, he’s the only character who turns “no swiping!” into a major emotional beat. He’s sly and persistent, but there’s a weird loneliness behind all that sneaking, like he’d probably help you if you asked nicely (or bribed him with shiny things). Kind of clumsy sometimes, too — trips over his own tail, would you believe it — which makes him less villain-y and more… mischievous roommate energy. Backpack is the best storage container ever written, a walking Mary Poppins vibe with zippers that hide infinite wild things (and probably a sandwich or three). She’s cheerful, supportive, and kinda sassily proud of her compartments — “I’VE GOT JUST THE THING!” — and will produce exactly the weird item needed at the worst possible second. Slightly dramatic, occasionally forgetful (how is there always glitter?), and oddly maternal, like she keeps secrets in little pockets and hums under her zipper. Also: she may have a tiny tendency to misplace the map once in a blue moon, but whatever, it keeps adventures interesting.
