Meet the characters from Ash vs Evil Dead

Ashley ‘Ash’ J. Williams

Ashley ‘Ash’ J. Williams is peak macho goofball with a boomstick and a chainsaw arm — the guy who kills demons and cracks jokes like it’s a hobby. He’s stupidly brave and annoyingly stubborn, totally a reluctant hero but also kind of chasing the spotlight, which is hilarious. Underneath the one-liners he’s actually pretty loyal and weirdly sentimental about his car or his “vintage” t-shirt collection (yes he has feelings, oxygen optional). He flirts with disaster constantly, screams like a baby sometimes, then punches a deadite through a wall — chaotic but reliable. Also he’s addicted to cheap beer and bad decisions, which somehow makes him irresistible — don’t question it.

Pablo Simon Bolivar

Pablo Simon Bolivar is the heart and soul of the crew, the loud, lovable sidekick who somehow manages to keep everyone grounded. He’s insanely loyal, brave in a way that feels pure and simple, and has this weird knack for being the emotional compass (and also for crafting surprisingly useful talismans). He can be naive and impulsive — like he will definitely dive into a fight without checking — but also wise in small, practical ways, which is endearing. Also, he cares about his mom, has a million tiny superstitions, and I swear he hums when he’s nervous — actual cinnamon roll energy.

Kelly Maxwell

Kelly Maxwell is a tiny hurricane: ferocious, furious, and terrifyingly effective with a shovel or anything that can be used as a weapon. She’s pure survivor instinct and rage, fiercely independent but secretly soft in bursts — like, she’ll punch a deadite then cry into a taco, I don’t know. Her anger is cathartic and messy and you love her for it; she doesn’t do pretense, just forward momentum and eyeliner that will murder you. Also surprisingly funny, a little chaotic, and impossibly stubborn — once she sets her jaw there’s no turning back.

Ruby Knowby

Ruby Knowby is deliciously slippery — half-ally, half-enigma, all-calculating, and always wearing this look like she knows the punchline of the universe. She’s clever, manipulative in the best soap-opera way, and terrifyingly competent with occult stuff — like, she reads ancient books like they’re grocery lists. At times she acts maternal and then immediately is cold-blooded and manipulative, which is confusing and somehow compelling (you want to hate her but you keep paying attention). There’s a streak of genuine pain under the plotting though, a backstory of loss that makes her not just a two-dimensional villain — maybe she collects old recipes? — I’m not sure. She will stab you, save you, lie to you, and then drink tea like nothing happened; truly multifaceted in a slightly infuriating, binge-worthy way.
