Meet the characters from The God of High School
Mori Jin
Mori is like a human firecracker — impossible to ignore, always grinning, and ready to throw himself at anything that looks fun or challenging. He fights because he loves fighting, but also because he has this ridiculous childlike sense of justice that somehow never gets old, even when he says he “doesn’t care” (he cares, obviously). He’s goofy and eats like a champion — ramen, fried chicken, something unstable — and somehow still has the reflexes of a god, which is a tiny bit unfair. There’s this whole monkey-king energy, not that he’d admit it in a serious voice, and he’s at once annoyingly reckless and unexpectedly sincere.
Daewi Han
Daewi is the stoic, quietly fierce type who will stare down a problem until it breaks, then make you weirdly compassionate muffins afterward (or was it stew? I forget). He’s tough as nails from a rough past but has this soft, stubborn ambition — wants to be better, to help people, and also refuses to lose at anything involving pride. He’s the kind of friend who won’t text back for three days because he’s thinking about you and planning something dramatic, which is both romantic and mildly terrifying. Underneath the deadpan is this big, clumsy heart that protects the people he loves, and he can be surprisingly goofy when no one’s watching.
Mira Yoo
Mira is sharp, sarcastic, and moves like she’s always one step ahead — part strategist, part straight-up brawler, and absolutely not to be underestimated. She has this cool exterior, all eye-rolls and barbs, but also hoards tiny plush animals in a drawer somewhere, which I adore and also find explain-y. She’s fiercely independent, will roast you in five languages if needed, and cares about justice in a quietly obsessive way; also loves spicy food and pretends she doesn’t cry during movies (lies). There’s a pragmatic brain under that leather jacket and it’s terrifyingly effective.
Ilpyo Park
Ilpyo is loud, flashy, and the kind of person who enters a room like it’s a stage because, honestly, he kind of thinks it is — big energy, big moves, big ego. He fights with a showman’s flair and sometimes borderline ridiculous bravado, but there’s also this old wound that makes him act out, which turns the bravado into something a little sad and kind of sympathetic. He collects vinyl records? Or used to? Maybe postcards. He’s equal parts champagne and a bruise on the ribs — you’ll cheer, then feel guilty, then cheer again.
Seungchul Baek
Seungchul is the mellow mountain of calm — huge presence, low voice, seems to breathe slower than everyone else and that somehow makes him terrifying in a fight. He’s a veteran, dependable, the “we’ll deal with it” type, and he has a ridiculous soft spot for cooking elaborate meals after a battle like it’s normal. He keeps things tidy (but not obsessively), forgets the small social niceties sometimes, and will drop an unexpectedly wise one-liner that sticks with you for days. He projects stability but also has this subtle loneliness that shows up in late-night tea sessions.
Manseok Gang
Manseok is the kind of power player who smiles like he’s handing you a gift and the gift is actually your entire schedule for the next ten years. He’s polished, ruthless when needed, and has a strategist’s brain that loves chess and deals and secret plans — and also, allegedly, collects orchids? That detail might be made up, but it feels right. He’s fascinating because he can be warmly paternal one second and cold-bloodedly efficient the next, which makes him both magnetic and a little scary. There’s always an agenda under the polite words and you kind of respect him for the honesty of his ambition even while you distrust it.
Gamdo Go
Gamdo is scrappy, wiry, and kind of like a fox — clever, a little slippery, and always with a snack in his pocket for reasons that never quite make sense. He’s the wildcard teammate who shows up with a plan that’s half genius, half improvisation, and somehow it works more than it should (or less, depending on his mood). He talks fast, thinks faster, and has a surprisingly tender loyalty to a small group of people, which is adorable and also improbable. Quirky little habits abound — tapping rhythms on tables, weird jokes — and he’s the sort of friend you want on a rooftop at midnight for chaotic adventures.
