About “Record Of Ragnarok” in a few words:

Record of Ragnarok is an anime series that follows the story of humanity’s last hope, as they face off against a group of powerful gods in an epic battle to decide the fate of the world. The gods have challenged humanity to a series of one-on-one battles, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. With some of the greatest warriors from history fighting on behalf of humanity, including figures like Jack the Ripper and Leonidas, this is a battle for the ages.

Meet the characters from Record of Ragnarok

Adam

Adam is this huge, heartbreaking take on humanity’s first prototype — proud, curious, and stubborn in a way that feels almost adorable and terrifying at the same time. He’s philosophical without sounding smug, like he’ll ask the big questions but then get distracted by a weirdly comfy rock and stay there for hours (true story? maybe). There’s this raw, primal dignity to him, and he’s stubborn to the point of poetry — also kind of clingy? — which makes him both heroic and tragic. He’s the kind of character who could start a revolution or sit in a garden and name every cloud; both feel very Adam.

Kojiro Sasaki

Kojiro is the Zen assassin with the laid-back vibe, but don’t let the sleepy smile fool you — there’s precision and philosophy in everything he does. He talks like he’s telling a bedtime story and then stabs the moral of it into the ground (metaphorically, though sometimes literally), and his calm is deliciously eerie. He’s obsessed with perfect timing and the tiniest details, but also totally chill about failing spectacularly once in a while — like he planned that, obviously. Also, he owns a ridiculous number of umbrellas and probably hums while sharpening his sword; I could be making that up but I’m not.

Jack The Ripper

Jack in Record of Ragnarok is this unsettling little ghost of a man who’s somehow both childlike and monstrous, like a porcelain doll that knows your secrets. He’s quiet, clinical, and deeply, deeply focused — the kind of calm that makes you forget to breathe until it’s too late, and then you definitely regret it. There’s a warped innocence to him, which is what makes him terrifying (and also darkly fascinating); he’ll giggle about tiny things and dismantle nightmares with a smile. He collects odd things, probably spoons? No, maybe teeth. Anyway, creepy and compelling.

Zeus

Zeus is full-on thunderous dad energy: grand, loud, utterly dramatic, and absolutely convinced he’s entertaining the whole world (and maybe he is). He’s regal and blustering and will roast you with a one-liner and then offer you ambrosia like a generous, slightly overbearing host. There’s a real theatricality to him that’s equal parts majestic and kind of exhausting — he loves being worshipped, but he also genuinely believes in the order he brings (or at least he tells himself he does). Also, tiny detail: totally terrible at lying about fashion choices, but somehow pulls off a lightning bolt motif like it’s haute couture.

Buddha

Buddha is quietly devastating — not in a macho way, but in that calm, “I know everything but I’ll let you learn” way that is somehow both kind and horrifying. He seems soft and smiling, very patient, and then he drops this strategic, almost surgical wisdom that flips the board and you realize he was playing chess while you were playing checkers. He’s compassionate but also a ruthless tactician; peaceful on the surface, but with an undercurrent of absolute certainty. And yes, somehow he probably loves tiny cakes — like, very small pastries — but will pretend he doesn’t while secretly hoarding them.

Heracles

Heracles is pure, chaotic fun: massive, loud, laugh-in-your-face heroism with a soft, baffled heart underneath the muscles. He charges into everything like the whole world’s a wrestling match and his rule is “if in doubt, smash it” — but also he can be weirdly tender, like a big puppy who brings you a dead branch as a gift. He’s heroic in the messy, impulsive way that makes him lovable and infuriating; he boasts but also apologizes awkwardly later (and means it). He collects chips? Not sure — he definitely leaves shirts behind everywhere.

Brunhilde

Brunhilde is the mastermind with emotional depth for days; she’s sharp, fierce, and kind of a romantic strategist who believes in humanity so hard it’s almost contagious. She’s organized, gritty, and dramatic — will make a plan five steps ahead and then write a sonnet about it on the way, probably on parchment with a quill. She’ll bark orders and then cry a little behind the curtain, but always with purpose; there’s a stubborn tenderness to her that makes her both intimidating and deeply inspiring. Also, she’s oddly into floral headbands and very bad at small talk, especially with sofas.

Shiva

Shiva is this mesmerizing, multi-armed whirlwind of grace and chill destruction — equal parts dancer, philosopher, and cosmic threat. He moves like water and thinks like a storm; serene smile, and then suddenly the ground is rearranged and you’re rethinking your life choices. He’s calm, precise, and terrifyingly efficient, but also has this playful streak where he’ll toy with metaphors and crack a dry joke mid-apocalypse. He’s terrible with directions, though — ask him for the east and he’ll give you a haiku and three different compass points.

Göll

Göll is this feral, adorable force of nature who punches first and asks questions later, with a big grumpy-but-soft heart buried under all that sass. She’s chaotic, loyal, and somehow both childish and ancient at once — like someone who likes to smash things and then knit them back together because she’s sentimental that way. Her reactions are immediate and very expressive; she cries, laughs, yells, forgives, repeats, sometimes all in one breath. Also, she probably hides snacks in her helmet, which is either brilliant or extremely gross, depending on how you look at it.
