Meet the characters from Adventure Time

Jake

Jake is basically a walking, stretchy, totally laid-back dad-dog and I love him — he can turn into basically anything, including a couch or a pizza (seriously). He’s goofy and chill but also low-key wise, like he’ll give you life advice mid-nap and then eat all your snacks, classic. Loves music, naps, mystical adventures, and sometimes his boundaries are a little loose (both physically and emotionally). He’s reliable and sometimes wildly irresponsible at the same time, which is somehow the point. Also he collects weird souvenirs? Socks? Who knows, but he definitely snores like a trombone.

Finn

Finn is the earnest, scarred-helmet-wearing hero who charges into stupidly dangerous things with a grin and a moral code that won’t quit. He’s brave and optimistic to a fault, and also melodramatic — expect tears, speeches, and hug attacks in equal measure. Constantly learning what it means to be grown-up (even when he still wears that ridiculous hat), he swings swords and questions his place in the world, which is adorable and painful. Loyal to a fault, loves adventure and dragons, and will absolutely record his feelings in a diary at 2 AM. Also: somehow obsessed with being a good human but still leaves snacks everywhere.

Ice King

Ice King is this tragic, chaotic, bonkers wizard who flaps between being a cartoonish villain and a lonely, desperate dude who hoards princesses like they’re action figures. He’s hilarious (in an uncomfortable way) and sad — the crown ruins him but he also genuinely thinks everything is a rom-com, bless him. He builds snow castles, writes weird love letters, and has the social skills of a confused penguin, but there are these tiny, terrifying hints of real humanity underneath. Feels ancient and unstable; sometimes he’s scary, sometimes he just wants a friend and a sandwich. Also probably bad at computers? Or maybe he runs a secret blog.

Princess Bubblegum

Princess Bubblegum is science, order, and sass wrapped in pink gumdrop couture; she’s brilliant, bossy, and very into controlled experiments (and also very into you-not-touching-her-regime). She rules the Candy Kingdom with a lab coat and a very precise timeline for feelings — basically a benevolent dictator who cares a lot but will absolutely put you in a petri dish if you annoy her. There’s this adorable tension where she’s maternal and also manipulative, and honestly that makes her fascinating. Loves candy chemistry, makes hard choices, and probably has a secret shelf of plushies she pretends she isn’t emotionally attached to. Oh and she bakes? Sometimes.

BMO

BMO is a tiny living game console and the kindest little weirdo who gives you a full episode of wholesome therapy and also hosts movie night for imaginary friends. Childlike and philosophical at the same time — sometimes BMO is an adventurer, sometimes a camera, sometimes an existential crisis (in the best way). They say the simplest lines and you feel your soul get a hug, then they’ll be mischievous and make pancakes for everyone, despite having no hands? It’s weird and perfect. Also likely to start a dramatic musical number out of nowhere and judge your taste in cartoons politely.

Lumpy Space Princess

Lumpy Space Princess is dramatic, lumpy, and gloriously extra — she will roll into a room with a scandal and an eyebrow and 90% of the time it’s hilarious and occasionally devastating. She’s sassy, self-centered, and low-key soft when it matters (don’t tell her that or she’ll cry about it on Instagram). Speaks in crumbs of spicy wisdom and pop-culture one-liners like “oh my glob” is a religion, and she’s surprisingly loyal to friends even when she acts like she couldn’t care less. Also inconsistent: fiercely independent but also totally clingy? Yep. Carries a purse and probably a mixtape of breakup songs.

Cinnamon Bun

Cinnamon Bun is the cinnamon-rolliest cinnamon roll ever — slow, sweet, a little spacey, and somehow deeply lovable even when he’s literally melting into a puddle of frosting. He used to be kind of clueless and terrified, then magically got braver and now stumbles into doing heroic things by accident, which is the best character arc. He’s fiercely loyal, dramatic in a soft way, and smells like sugar and mild chaos (in a good way). Sometimes he’s brilliant, sometimes he’s dense, and you will never be sure which until he saves the day with a hug. Also maybe he loves buttered toast? Or just butter.

Marceline

Marceline is the vampire rocker queen with a bass-guitar-axe and a centuries-deep mixtape of feelings — moody, flirty, and devastatingly cool. She’s playful and sarcastic and then will drop a line about her past that makes you cry for a week, which is exactly why we love her. Tough exterior, soft interior, immortal angst and weird food choices (vegan? loves red velvet cupcakes? eats the emotional spectrum, honestly). She collects old songs, hates being boxed in by anyone, and secretly hoards hats (but would deny it dramatically).

Peppermint Butler

Peppermint Butler is the tiny gentleman with a tux and a smile who is absolutely into dark arts and weird underworld networking — polite and sinister in the same breath. He serves tea and conspiracy theory in equal portions; one moment he’s fetching snacks, the next he’s casually arranging demonic contracts (again, adorable and alarming). Sophisticated, loyal to PB, and oddly pragmatic about morality, like a butler who read ten forbidden grimoires on his lunch break. Also he has a soft spot for pastries (or maybe just for keeping secrets).
