Meet the characters from Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions
Sanae Dekomori
Oh my gosh Sanae is peak chaotic energy — twin tails flying, chanting imaginary spells like it’s a competitive sport. She’s the die-hard chuunibyo fangirl who’ll declare an oath to the moon and then hog your snacks (but also will make you a carefully folded origami thing at 3 a.m., true story). Loud, obsessive, and fiercely loyal, she’s also…surprisingly sentimental? Like she’ll cry over a trashy idol calendar and then immediately challenge you to a duel. Honestly she’s the friend who makes life messy in the best way — dramatic, a little scary, and impossible not to adore.
Shinka Nibutani
Shinka is the “popular girl who’s actually a secret disaster” trope but in the cutest way — polished, poised, and low-key sharp-tongued when she’s tired. She used to be deep in chuunibyo (don’t say that out loud) so there’s this weird soft-core awkwardness underneath the glossy exterior, plus she plays the clarinet which is a surprisingly wholesome detail. Tries very hard to be Normal™ and mostly succeeds, except when something nostalgic trips her up and suddenly she’s flustered and tiny again. She can be bossy and kind at the same time, which is confusing but also kind of perfect.
Kumin Tsuyuri
Kumin is basically a walking nap with a gentle smile — she will organize a group nap and somehow make it feel like an emotional retreat. Calm, unflappable, loves fluffy things and snacks (will bring macaroons to any social situation), and yet she’s oddly observant — she notices the tiny human details everyone else misses. She’s not dramatic at all but also somehow the glue of the friend group, quietly making sure no one ruins their lives (too much). And yes, she’s that person who will fall asleep mid-conversation and you’ll still forgive her because she brought tea.
Rikka Takanashi
Rikka is literal cinnamon roll meets dark fantasy heroine — eyepatch, delusions about the “Wicked Eye,” vast imaginative inner world and an uncanny ability to be both sweet and terrifying. She’s shy and intense, clinging to her myths as both armor and playground, and her brain flips between adorable sincerity and shockingly profound thoughts in a second. She’s awkward in real life (hands always in pockets? maybe), but fiercely earnest and loyal to the point of adorable stubbornness. Also, she’s surprisingly domestic sometimes — will attempt to cook, may set off a smoke alarm, but with a triumphant grin.
Touka Takanashi
Touka is the super responsible older-sister type who’s constantly exasperated but secretly delighted by the chaos Rikka causes (don’t tell her I said that). She’s practical, no-nonsense, a little bossy, and the kind of person who will lecture you and then bring you soup five minutes later — very mom energy but also somehow still sarcastic. Occasionally flashes of childish spite come out (and they are hilarious), which is delightfully inconsistent with her “adult” facade. She keeps things together mostly by scolding everyone into place, and it works, annoyingly.
Makoto Isshiki
Makoto is low-key reliable with a dry sense of humor — the kind of background friend who actually holds the group together even if he never demands attention. He’s calm, maybe nerdy in a cozy way, and probably hoards cute stationery (don’t ask why, it’s a vibe). Schoolwise he’s the sort who you’d ask for a sensible opinion and get something unexpectedly thoughtful, like a fortune cookie that actually makes sense. He’s not flashy but he’s quietly invested in people — soft power, I swear.
Kuzuha Togashi
Kuzuha gives “teasing older sibling” energy but with a secret soft spot that leaks at inconvenient times (like when you eat the last cookie). She’s playful and a bit mischievous — likes to rib her brother but will also defend him like a tiny knight if anyone crosses the line. Also surprisingly mature when necessary, but don’t expect consistency; one moment she’s organizing a detailed plan, the next she’s dramatically declaring nap time. Basically: unreliable in a lovable way, and maybe into cute things more than she admits.
Yumeha Togashi
Yumeha feels like the calm, slightly amused parental presence — warm, practical, and the person who remembers everyone’s birthdays without looking it up. She’s supportive and low-key meddlesome (in the best “I worry so I organize your life” sense), and has this odd habit of making perfect bento boxes like it’s a hobby and a threat. Beneath the domestic vibe there’s a quietly fierce streak; don’t underestimate her, she’ll school you with calm words. She’s comforting, sometimes stern, and just all-around very reliable (also might sneak you a dessert when you’re not looking).
Kazari Kannagi
Kazari is tiny, sharp, and a bit of a magnetic troublemaker — fashionable, dramatic, and somehow impossibly precise with her eyeliner. She’s got that “looks sweet but could dismantle you” energy, dramatic in the cutest way, and definitely enjoys stirring the pot (but usually with charm and a smile). She’s theatrical and sassy, yet there are moments where she’s unexpectedly tender, like a plush toy with spikes. Honestly she’s the kind of person who’s fun at parties and also the reason you have stories for years.
