Meet the characters from Star vs. the Forces of Evil

Star Butterfly

Star is fireworks and glitter and absolute chaos wrapped in a tiny princess dress — she bursts into every room like it’s a surprise party she threw for herself. She’s wildly brave, a little reckless, and sure, sometimes her best idea is “use spell” which is not always helpful but definitely memorable. She loves friendship above most things, except maybe tacos or socks, and she is somehow both delightfully naive and unnervingly perceptive at the same time. Also she collects stickers? Or is it dimensional stamps? I can never remember, but whatever it is, it’s adorable and probably enchanted.

Marco Diaz

Marco is the grounded, karate-chopping savior who smells faintly of preparedness and pepperoni (I might be making that up, but it fits). He’s calm, dependable, anxious in the best way — like a human hall monitor who will also throw a mean roundhouse when needed. Responsible to a fault, yet he has this secret stubborn streak that makes him leap into chaos for the people he cares about. He’s the kind of friend who packs a first-aid kit and also a ridiculously embarrassing motivational speech that somehow works.

Queen Moon Butterfly

Moon is regal and haunted and the kind of mother who wears layers of diplomacy like armor, but will also absolutely smack a villain with royal disdain if provoked. There’s a deep, almost tragic wisdom to her; she carries the weight of Mewni and a complicated past where mistakes were made (secretly cried about once, maybe twice). She can be gentle and stern simultaneously, and yes, she has rules — but those rules sometimes come from fear more than malice. Also she hums lullabies that are probably cursed? No, probably just very dramatic.

Ludo

Ludo is the ridiculous little villain who is simultaneously pathetic and kind of terrifying — like a comic book boss who never remembers to bring snacks for his minions. He wants power, he wants respect, he mostly wants to hold a wand (or what it represents) and also maybe a girlfriend? His schemes are elaborate and often doomed, but there’s a tragic earnestness to him; you can almost feel his insecurity every time he summons more birds. He’s chaotic, insecure, and oddly relatable — like, don’t laugh, he really does try.

Buff Frog

Buff Frog is the big, stoic amphibian who somehow became a symbol of quiet strength and domestic chaos (he loves fishing, leadership, and apparently tiny crown etiquette). He’s built like a dream, but also really soft-hearted — a gentle giant wrapped in green. He’s loyal to the bone, surprisingly diplomatic for a frog, and once he decides a thing, he’s both stubborn and very sensible about it. Also he might hoard rocks? Or snacks? Probably snacks.

Janna Ordonia

Janna is the spooky, mischievous chaos-witch teenager who’s either a menace or the weirdest sort of guardian angel depending on how you look at it. She collects weird creepy things, tells tall stories, skateboard-scoots around town and laughs at things most people wouldn’t even notice. She’s cackly, unapologetic, and somehow always in the right place at the right wrong time to cause mayhem or drop a surprising piece of wisdom. Also she’s definitely keeping a journal of everything, including your embarrassing secrets, but in a supportive way… I think.

Tom

Tom (yes, Tom) is a flaming little disaster and the textbook hot-headed ex-demon-prince you can’t help but root for — he’s intense, passionate, and suspiciously soft under that lava crust. He has mood swings like weather fronts; one minute he’s brooding in a cave, the next he’s trying to bake cookies (that probably explode). He’s fiercely loyal and sort of awkward with feelings, which is adorably tragic, and he’ll defend his friends with dramatic gestures and occasional fire; probably not the best with furniture. Also he collects scars for stories, not trophies, I swear.

Ponyhead

Ponyhead is a floating, glittering catastrophe of sass and runway energy who treats every conversation like a red carpet interview. She’s loud, selfish in the most entertaining way, and somehow unbelievably loyal when it counts (don’t test her patience unless you like sparkling snark). She throws tantrums like confetti and has a liberal policy on dramatic exits, but she’ll also show up at 3 a.m. with a ridiculous plan that actually works — sometimes. Also she’s definitely allergic to quiet, and possibly to subtlety.
