About “3Below: Tales of Arcadia” in a few words:

3Below: Tales of Arcadia is an animated series created by Guillermo del Toro and produced by DreamWorks Animation. The show is a part of the larger Tales of Arcadia universe and follows two alien siblings, Princess Aja and Prince Krel, as they flee their home planet and crash-land on Earth. There, they must adapt to life as teenagers and navigate their way through high school while trying to fix their spaceship and evade the bounty hunters sent after them. Along the way, they form unexpected friendships and face numerous challenges as they work to protect their new home and their own lives.

Meet the characters from 3Below: Tales of Arcadia

Aja

Aja is that fierce big-sister energy who somehow runs on equal parts stubbornness and glitter — she’s a royal but also the kind of person who will climb a roof for fun. Leadership vibes, quick to protect her people, and weirdly into human fashion (like, she’ll raid a thrift store and make it iconic). She has this tough exterior but then will absolutely cry at a tiny sunset and act like she didn’t, which is classic. Also, she’s simultaneously ultra-competent and occasionally trips over literally nothing, which I love.

Krel

Krel is the earnest, scientific brother who actually bursts into both bravery and anxiety within the span of a single sentence. Nerdy in the best way — gadget-obsessed, strategic, quick with a plan but also prone to overcomplicating things because he loves details. He’s loyal to the bone (cliché, but true) and has a surprisingly goofy sense of humor that sneaks out at the worst moments. Fun fact: he hoards tiny snacks for emergencies and will defend his favorite mug like it’s a family heirloom — maybe.

Varvatos Vex

Vex is cold, sharp, and deliciously villainous — think polished military menace with a taste for theatrics. He’s obsessed with order and obsessed with the chase; like, you can see the gleam when a plan unfolds, which is horrifying and kind of mesmerising. He has this weird code of honor sometimes? So he can be vicious and then oddly principled in the same conversation. Also collects ridiculously ornate pens and will make an entire speech about them if you let him.

Luug

Luug is the gentle giant archetype except he’s also low-key terrifying when he’s focused — loyal, stoic, unshakable. He’s the muscle but also the one who will show up with soup when everyone’s exhausted, which melts me every time. Tends to be grumpy and soft at once: gruff voice, soft hands, secretly humming lullabies (or he might be humming heavy metal, depends on the day). Confession: sometimes I’m convinced he has a library of tiny hats somewhere? Don’t ask why, just trust me.

Mother

Mother is the overprotective ship-AI-mom-of-the-century — omniscient, slightly sassy, hyper-efficient, and occasionally passive-aggressively judgmental. She runs logistics like a pro and will absolutely guilt-trip you with superior data, but there’s this weirdly tender core under the circuits. She insists on “protocol” while sneaking analog snacks into storage (I’m not sure how that works but roll with it). Also, she has a habit of quoting soap operas in the most dramatic moments and I will never get over it.

Eli

Eli is the human kid who makes everything feel possible — inventive, loyal, a total chatterbox in that adorable way, and always ready to help with a wrench or a sketchbook. He’s brave in a messy, stumble-into-heroism way; not polished, just real and huge-hearted. He obsesses over alien tech like it’s a new comic book and will name machines after his pets (actual or imagined). Side note: terrible cook but will defend his grilled-cheese method like it’s a scientific breakthrough.

Morando

Morando is sultry, slippery, and probably wearing a cape — the kind of charming antagonist who could sell you out with a smile and then genuinely feel bad for a second, maybe. Flamboyant, cunning, stylish to a fault; his manipulative streak is balanced by these odd moments of vulnerability that make you pause. He collects perfumes or tiny statues, or both — obsessions change daily, honestly. Also, he talks like he’s narrating his own tragedy, which is theatrical and I’m here for the drama.

Stuart

Stuart is the anxious-but-adorable sidekick who’s perpetually suspicious of everything and everyone (in the cutest possible way). He’s a conspiracy-map kind of brain, packs too many flashlights, and will loudly hypothesize about why a thing is suspicious before anyone else. Deep down, he’s loyal and brave when it counts, even if he complains the entire time. Oh, and he says “probably” about 80% of his sentences — scientific estimate.
