Jake

He’s got dad vibes and party vibes in one fuzzy package. He loves food—especially anything he can smush together—and will give advice that actually helps even when he’s high on nachos.

Finn

Finn is the heroic, sword-swinging kid with the messy heart of a teen who reads old hero manuals and cries at sunsets. Brave, impulsive, moral to a fault but stubborn as heck—he rushes in and then improvises his way out, which is both annoying and inspiring. He likes sandwiches, high-fives, and melancholy growth arcs; also he occasionally forgets his own trauma until it’s dramatic. Finn is pure, a little sweaty, full of earnest speeches, and somehow always learning to be better even when he swears he’ll never change.

Ice King

Ice King is the chaotic, lonely wizard who screams at the sky and kidnaps princesses but also once was a guy named Simon who owned birds and felt feelings. He’s equal parts hilarious meltdown and heartbreaking backstory; you’ll laugh at his terrible hats and then suddenly feel terrible about history and memory loss. Obsession with love songs, penguins, and sickly sweet shouting “love” while wearing a pointy crown—also flies into tantrums for no reason. He’s a mess, he’s sympathetic, he doubles as comic relief and tragic figure, and honestly you can never tell whether to hug him or run.

Princess Bubblegum

Princess Bubblegum is candy royalty and also a mad scientist in a pink lab coat who runs an entire kingdom with terrifying efficiency. She’s soft-spoken and pragmatic, full of candy puns and quietly ruthless political moves—like, she’ll bake you cupcakes and then reorganize your genome. Mixes moral scientist vibes with genuinely caring leadership (but also sometimes her “for the greater good” plans are a little dystopian—oops). She’s brilliant, ancient-ish, very organized, and loves beakers almost as much as she loves her friends, even if she refuses to admit the messier emotions.

BMO

BMO is the tiny living game console who doubles as everyone’s sibling and sometimes therapist, and honestly I’m convinced it’s a tiny adorable philosopher. Childlike, blissfully optimistic, loves making movies, playing games, and being dramatic—also will tell you its pronouns, and then maybe change them? probably. It’s glitchy, charming, deeply loyal, and will host a tea party with a robot voice and then suddenly wax poetic about existence. BMO is delightfully weird and comforting at once, a little lo-fi miracle that somehow holds Finn and Jake together.

Lumpy Space Princess

Lumpy Space Princess is gloriously dramatic, floaty lumps of sass with a voice that could kill a small dragon and also a soft spot she pretends not to have. She says “like” in every other sentence, courts chaos like it’s couture, and wallows in teen melodrama—on purpose, usually. Self-absorbed? Totally. Vulnerable? Also yes, and sometimes she bursts into tears over a totally stupid thing and then brags about it ten minutes later.

Cinnamon Bun

Cinnamon Bun is this giant cinnamon roll of a guy—literal sweet bread energy, sweet and dim but getting there—like he used to be an innocent sack of butter and now he’s surprisingly okay. He was awkward and kind of blank for a while but then matured? or at least got a little smarter?—either way he loves food and hugs and isn’t trying to be anything else. Always earnest, a little clumsy, inexplicably loyal, and somehow retains a childlike wonder even when he’s doing surprisingly competent things. He might once have been a joke and now he’s a cinnamon bun legend; also sometimes he does odd things with fire and that’s a whole other chapter.

Marceline

Marceline is a vampire rocker queen who lives on the edge of melancholy and mischief, bass guitar in hand, eternally cool and haunting. She drinks the red stuff? or is it just ketchup? anyway she flirts with trouble and wrings heartstrings with one note, and her wardrobe is peak emo. Centuries-old but somehow forever teen, she remembers things no one else does and hides soft spots under a mountain of sarcasm. She’s fierce, lonely, free, and loves to roast marshmallows with a mischievous grin—also she writes sad songs about ex-lovers and probably loves peanut butter.

Peppermint Butler

Peppermint Butler is adorable and polite and also into shadowy occult stuff, which is the best subplot ever—tiny peppermint with a big weird hobby. He curtsies, brings tea, and then casually runs errands for demons; he will smile and then summon something sketchy in the basement like it’s no big deal. Mysterious, protective, oddly competent, and deeply loyal to PB even while dabbling in maybe-not-legal dark arts—also has excellent manners, which is terrifying. He’s the kind of butler who knows everyone’s secrets and probably keeps a scrapbook of them, but in a cute binder with stickers, obviously.
