Meet the characters from Engage Kiss

Linhua Hachisuka

Linhua is that quietly intense type who smiles like she knows a secret and then proceeds to absolutely dismantle your assumptions, in the best way. Super composed on the outside but she hoards weird little trinkets (like a single rubber duck and three mismatched keys) which makes you wonder if she’s secretly a tiny chaotic librarian. She’s loyal and steady, the kind of person who makes plans five steps ahead and then improvises charmingly when the plan goes sideways. Also she’s oddly into spicy tea at midnight — nobody knows why, maybe it fuels her plotting — and sometimes she talks to plants and they do actually respond, probably.

Shuu Ogata

Shuu is the broody, clever one who looks like he should be solving crimes in a noir movie but instead is probably grading someone’s terrible puns at 2 AM. He’s fiercely protective, especially of the people he cares about, but won’t admit it—ever—and will respond with sarcasm and a cryptic half-smile instead. Has a soft spot for small animals and terrible action movies, which feels like a betrayal of his otherwise dramatic, mysterious vibe. He’s unpredictable: meticulous planner, occasional last-minute chaos agent, and yes, he definitely has one hoodie he refuses to throw away though it’s seen better centuries.

Kisara

Kisara is all fire and focus — a total warrior energy with an undercurrent of “please pet me” that surprises everyone who meets her. She’s brave to a fault and hates being underestimated, so she trains like she’s trying to prove something to the universe (and maybe to herself). Despite the tough exterior she collects little notebooks full of doodles and grocery lists, and cries at romantic comedies when no one’s looking, which is unfairly adorable. Sometimes she speaks bluntly and other times she composes sonnets in her head; contradiction is basically her aesthetic and I love that for her.

Sharon Holygrail

Sharon acts like an elegant enigma straight out of a painting—refined, poised, always three sips into a mysterious drink that may or may not be actual tea. She’s incredibly resourceful and has a million connections, meaning she can get anything you need, except maybe a straight answer about her past, which she’ll deflect with a quip. She’s dramatic in the best possible way and has a bedside manner that alternates between velvet and velvet-covered steel. Also she collects vintage postcards and occasionally speaks in metaphors about clocks, which is either poetic or slightly alarming depending on the day.

Ayano Yuugiri

Ayano is calm, precise, and quietly intense — the kind of person who makes lists in her head just to keep her thoughts tidy, but then loses the list and trusts instinct anyway. She’s reliable to the core and has a moral compass that’s annoyingly accurate; people go to her when they need a straight answer or someone to actually follow through. There’s a dry humor beneath the seriousness though, like she’ll deliver a deadpan line and you’ll laugh out loud, accidentally, and she’ll shrug like she meant to be hilarious all along. She also collects old keys for reasons she won’t explain, and sometimes hums old lullabies when she’s thinking, which is weirdly soothing.

Akino Yuugiri

Akino is the spark next to Ayano’s steady flame — impulsive, bright, and always suggesting the detour that turns into the best story later. She’s mischievous in a charming way, literally the friend who dares you to do the thing and then helps you escape when it goes wrong, all while eating a sandwich. Deep down she’s very protective and surprisingly insightful, which shocks people who write her off as just bubbly; she notices tiny details and remembers them forever. Also she has an unhealthy obsession with novelty pencils and once tried to adopt a stray cat that turned out to be a raccoon, and nobody’s ever let her live that down.
