About “Spriggan” in a few words:

“Spriggan” is a thrilling anime series based on the manga of the same name. It follows the adventures of Yu Ominae, a high school student and member of an elite group of archaeologists known as Spriggans. With the ability to harness ancient artifacts and supernatural powers, the Spriggans battle against various enemies to protect the world from destruction. Combining action, adventure, and supernatural elements, “Spriggan” is a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Meet the characters from Spriggan

Mirage

Oh man, Mirage is the kind of character who slips into a scene and somehow makes everything look deliberate — she’s sneaky in the best way, equal parts shadow and spectacle. Quiet usually, but then she’ll explode into this weirdly graceful chaos, like someone who listens more than talks but owns the room when she does speak. She’s got spy vibes, gadget-smarts and a not-entirely-trustworthy smile, and I swear she drinks instant coffee but judges baristas. Also sometimes she’s hilariously sentimental about old postcards? Which makes no sense but I love it.

Jean Jacquemondo

Jean is the charmingly exasperating French wildcard — suave, a little theatrical, and absolutely lethal when he needs to be. He loves a good duel (metaphorical or not), and has this tragic-romantic backstory that he’ll either brood over or brush off with a baguette joke, no in-between. There’s a surprising nerdy streak — he annotates maps like it’s poetry and collects bad luck charms — and yet he can be maddeningly dependable in a crisis. Honestly, he’s equal parts gentleman and gremlin, and both sides are delightful.

Yuu Ominae

Yuu is the quietly intense teenager who somehow carries the weight of the world but still remembers everyone’s birthdays, which I find endearing and mildly implausible. Stoic on the surface, fiercely loyal underneath, he’s trained to be a machine but keeps little human tics — like humming while he works or sneaking snacks into tense moments. He’s a natural leader when things go sideways, though he’ll pretend he’s just following orders, and sometimes he’ll surprise you with a terrible joke. Also he swears he’s bad at cooking but will absolutely make ramen at 3 AM for a teammate, so there’s that.

Colonel MacDougall

This guy is textbook gruff-military but with this weirdly tender soft spot that catches you off guard — think stern moustache, booming voice, and a closet full of ties he never wears. He barks orders like it’s performance art but will also personally patch someone up behind the lines, and he treats strategy like chess and people like family (or pawns he reluctantly loves). He’s a bit old-school and stubborn, but don’t write him off — he reads the room and the battlefield with the patience of a saint or a very tired general. Oh and I’m pretty sure he knits during briefings sometimes? Maybe.

Yoshino Somei

Yoshino is quietly brilliant and slightly chaotic — a scientist who wears pretty dresses and keeps a lab notebook full of doodles, which is as adorable as it is terrifying. She’s the brain you want on your team: brilliant theories, messy hair, a habit of talking too fast when excited, and somehow she balances pure curiosity with moral seriousness. She can come off shy, but push the right button and she becomes this fiery advocate who will defend an idea like it’s her cat (she may or may not have a cat). Also she absolutely insists her coffee is taste-tested for optimum hypothesis generation.

Director Yamamoto

Director Yamamoto is all quiet authority and polite menace — the kind of bureaucrat who controls a whole organization with a single raised eyebrow. He’s elegant in a subdued way, wears classic suits, and has this archive of secrets that he guards like a dragon hoards coins, though he’ll hand you a file like it’s a mint if you behave. He believes in the mission above all, but there are tiny cracks where you see he actually cares about people, and that makes him dangerous in a compassionate way. Also rumored to be a terrible karaoke singer — which somehow humanizes him and infuriates protocol fans.

Maria Clementi

Maria is dramatic in the most magnetic way — glamorous, cunning, and a little unhinged if the plot calls for it, but always compelling. She’s got an archaeologist’s obsession with relics and secrets, plus a wardrobe that screams “I mean business” and possibly a soft spot for stray dogs, which I did not expect. She plays people like chess pieces, smiles at terrible puns, and can switch from femme fatale to sympathetic ally depending on her mood or the lighting. Contradictory? Absolutely. Terrific? Also absolutely.
