He surprises people by getting stubborn when it matters, and yes, he cries in weird moments but then makes a spreadsheet to organize his feelings, apparently. Also, he has a weird collection of erasers and will absolutely defend someone to the death if he decides they’re worth it.

Tenji Mikasa

Tenji is the loud, dramatic show-off who makes everything feel like a performance and you either love that or you’re vaguely terrified — I’m in the love camp, obviously. He’s got that constant grin, flamboyant energy, but he’s not all flash; under the cosplay and theatrics is someone annoyingly sharp who notices small lies. He’ll throw wild bets just to see what people do, and then write a passive-aggressive poem about the aftermath, probably in glitter. Sometimes he’s flaky and disappears for a day to “find himself” and comes back with a new hat and startlingly good insight.

Kei Shinomiya

Kei is the icy one — stoic, small talk makes him twitch, and he gives one-liners like they’re surgical strikes, but also he bakes terrible cupcakes for stress relief? He uses kindness like strategy, which is wild, and sometimes he’ll make a plan that seems reckless but somehow works because he’s thought about friendship like it’s a chess opening. Oh, and he definitely has a snack he always hoards in his pocket — for reasons of comfort, not strategy…maybe both.

Maria Mizuse

Maria is sugar-sweet with a razor hidden behind her smile, which is probably my favorite contradiction — she can be adorable and terrifying within the same breath. She flirts with chaos like it’s a necklace she can yank and she’s not afraid to play dirty if the stakes need it, but also she cries over rom-coms and owns five different plushies. Her glamour hides a cold practicality: she knows how to negotiate and can be shockingly efficient when pushed. Somehow she also claims to hate mysteries yet will spend three hours making elaborate, unnecessary clues just to see if you’ll follow them.

Yutori Kokorogi

Yutori feels like someone you want to hug but also needs to be shielded from everything, which is both sweet and infuriating — like, grow a backbone but I’ll protect you anyway. She’s anxious, timid, and honest to a fault, but when the going gets tough she gathers a tiny thundercloud of courage and surprises everyone (including herself). She hoards notes that are half apologies and half motivational quotes, and I swear she owns one too many beanies. There’s a softness that makes her dangerous in its own way because underestimating her is basically the first rule you break at your own peril.

Shiho Sawaragi

Shiho is sharp-tongued and slightly theatrical, the kind of person who says what everyone else is thinking but with better timing and an annoyingly perfect smirk. She’s pragmatic, kind of ruthless if necessary, and has a weirdly tender relationship with old video games — like she’ll beat you at poker and then brag about Tetris scores. She’s good at reading the room and will give one-line life advice that somehow works, even if she acts like she didn’t mean to. Also, she carries a tiny journal full of insults and compliments and will use either depending on her mood, which is her personal brand.
