Meet the characters from Helck
Helck
Oh man, Helck is the kind of giant-sandwich-of-a-hero you can’t stop staring at — massive, loud, and oddly affectionate for someone who looks like he could crack mountains with a wink. He’s brash and heroic but also keeps doing unexpectedly sweet things (like apologizing to trees? I swear he does that) and then turning around to punch a demon army, which is peak mood whiplash. There’s this whole “is he human or not” mystery and he plays it like a stand-up comedian with a grudge; protective to a fault, loves ramen maybe, hates paperwork definitely. He’s basically chaos wrapped in a cape but somehow also the heart of everything, which makes no sense but yes, yes it works.
Vermilio
Vermilio gives off cold-blooded general energy — sharp, precise, kind of terrifying in a very stylish way — but then he’ll do something tiny and sweet like polish his armor at 2 a.m. and you’re like, oh, okay, human. He’s a tactician, very “I have a plan” and maybe a little smug about it, but he’s also weirdly sentimental about honor (and horses? I think horses). Keeps his cards close and his sarcasm closer, and when he actually smiles it’s dramatic, suspicious, and probably important later. Basically the kind of character who would betray you in one chapter and bake you a pie in the next, and you’d both forgive him immediately.
Azudora
Azudora is this massive looming presence — ancient, slow-burning, the kind of being that feels like a cliff you can’t climb but also wants to tell you its favorite joke. Stoic and inscrutable, with layers of history and trauma, but also will randomly show a weird hobby (I’m picturing embroidery? no wait, sword polishing? maybe both). There’s regal menace but also, if you listen, a tired sort of patience, like someone who’s seen a thousand wars and still remembers everyone’s birthdays. Mysterious, infuriatingly wise, and suspiciously fond of a specific brand of tea — which feels right and wrong at the same time.
Hon
Hon is tiny in presence but enormous in attitude — like a pocket-sized hurricane with an annoying grin and a million plans that mostly work. Sharp-tongued, clever, and suspiciously affectionate toward people he publicly berates (masking things? absolutely), he’s the kind of side character who steals scenes and probably your sandwich. He might be a schemer, might be a softie, depends on the day and whether he’s had enough sleep, and he’ll tell you both versions with relish. Low-key indispensable, secretly sentimental, and always carrying something sticky in his pocket for reasons he’ll never explain.
Asuta
Asuta feels young and earnest in the best way — idealistic, a little naive, but with surprising backbone when push comes to shove (and oh boy does he get shoved). He’s the hopeful one, full of “I’ll change the world!” energy and also a surprisingly dark sense of humor when things go sideways, which makes him oddly layered. Loves books or maps? Maybe both; also cries at sunsets but will punch a statue for honor, so pick your contradictory mood. Honestly, he’s the type you want to cheer for and also want to keep away from cliff edges, but he’ll climb them anyway and make it look inspirational.
Isuta
Isuta is prickly, sarcastic, and possibly the family’s designated realist — the cool counterpoint to any dreamy nonsense around them, yet secretly allergic to boredom. Sharp-eyed, impatient with nonsense, and very judgmental about shoes, they also have this weirdly soft loyalty that sneaks out at odd hours (midnight snack runs, clandestine pep talks). A little world-weary but still gets riled up over the right cause, which makes them dangerous in the best way — the kind of person who’ll save you and then scold you for it. Quietly unpredictable, occasionally sentimental, and definitely the one who remembers everyone’s embarrassing childhood nicknames and weapon preferences.
