The story follows Katarina Claes, a young noblewoman who, after hitting her head, suddenly remembers that she was once a regular girl from our world and has been reincarnated into the world of an otome game. Katarina now faces the challenge of avoiding the doom that awaits the game’s villainess while also trying to win the hearts of the game’s romantic interests.

Meet the characters from My Next Life as a Villainess

Anne Shelley

Anne is this quietly fierce maid who could fold your laundry and your dignity in the same afternoon, but also sing terribly off-key at 2 a.m. because why not? She’s practical, endlessly loyal, and somehow knows everyone’s secrets (and definitely forgets to tell them she knows). She cares way too much about the little things — fresh tea, mended hems — but will absolutely tackle a monster or a misbehaving noble if needed. Oh and she’s shy around compliments but will loudly defend her friends in the most awkward, adorable way.

Catarina Claes

Catarina is pure chaotic sunshine with a terrible habit of turning near-death predictions into full-time hobbies. She’s impulsive, clumsy, and surprisingly inventive when her life is on the line — like a disaster-prone genius who bakes cookies as a peace offering. She’ll hug you one minute and accidentally start a duel the next, all while insisting she’s totally calm and definitely not panicking. There’s a lovably stubborn streak underneath the goofy smiles, and she genuinely believes snacks solve most political crises.

Sophia Ascart

Sophia looks like an elegant, ice-carved statue but will drop one-liners that slice right through pomp and pretense (in the best way). She’s refined, meticulous, and has a weirdly soft spot for deadpan drama — also roses, lots of roses, even when she pretends she hates gardening. Protective to the point of terrifying if someone hurts her friends, yet emotionally awkward like she forgot how to feel and is Googling “appropriate reaction.” She’s classy and kind of ruthless about standards, but will also quietly laugh at terrible puns when no one’s watching.

Mary Hunt

Mary is the textbook tsundere heroine: prim, exact, and secretly melodramatic with a flair for strategic passive-aggression. She plans everything, crosses everything twice, and then loses the list on purpose to test you (maybe). She’s sharp as a tack and suspicious of everyone — except when she isn’t, and then she’s suspicious of herself. Also, she has an inexplicable love of sparkly stationery and will judge your handwriting with terrifying intensity.

Nicol Ascart

Nicol is the stoic, devoted type who looks like he’s perpetually brooding but actually bakes terrible cookies to cheer people up (they’re sincere, if a little charcoal-y). He’s calm, competent, and quietly protective — the kind of person you want in a crisis, even if he won’t dramatically announce it. He’s secretly sentimental (don’t tell him I said that) and has a startlingly soft laugh if you catch him off-guard. Occasionally awkward with feelings, but very good at the small, steady things that matter.

Alan Stuart

Alan is gruff and hot-headed in the best possible way, like a thunderstorm that also gives really practical life advice. He’s competitive, loyal, and has this ridiculous tendency to be both wildly dramatic and inexplicably kind the exact same minute. He hates being sentimental but will absolutely try to make you a handcrafted (slightly lopsided) gift, then act like he didn’t. Also—he’s a surprisingly big fan of cute things, which he denies aggressively.

Geordo Stuart

Geordo is the polite, dependable gentleman who makes lists, helps with etiquette, and then secretly scribbles terrible doodles in the margins. He’s steady, sincere, and annoyingly good at being the reliable best friend you didn’t know you needed. He likes nice things — tea sets, tidy gardens — but shows a flair for the dramatic when his friends are involved (in a very soft, “please behave” kind of way). He’s also maybe the world’s worst liar; you can read him like an open book and he kind of enjoys it.

Maria Campbell

Maria is loud, blunt, and delightfully unfiltered — a tomboy with a big heart and questionable fashion sense (she owns at least three capes). She’d challenge you to a duel and then invite you for stew afterwards; tough but oddly maternal. Fiercely competitive, she loves action and hates nonsense, but will cuddle small animals until they demand mercy. Slightly chaotic good, and somehow always the last person you expect to give the best advice.

Keith Claes

Keith is the grumpy-yet-soft patriarch vibe in human form — stern eyebrows, suspicious of nonsense, and will absolutely spoil you with snacks if you look even a little cold. He gives rules and then quietly breaks them for the right person, which is both infuriating and endearing. There’s a dry sense of humor under the scowl, and he’s probably got a secret stash of ridiculous knickknacks he denies owning. He acts like he’s in charge of the world; the world mostly lets him think so.

Sirius Dieke

Sirius is the dark, dramatic type who looks like a storm and actually smells faintly of midnight library vibes (not literally, but almost). He’s broody, intense, and oddly gentle when the moment matters — a lot of mystery with a classic soft-core meltdown potential. He’s all about dignity and presence, then will trip over a rug and blame the rug, which ruins the aesthetic in the most lovable way. Also, he’s terrifyingly loyal and will defend his friends with suspiciously theatrical glares.
