Meet the characters from Rent-A-Girlfriend: Kanojo Okarishimasu

Kazuya Kinoshita

Kazuya is the perfectly imperfect protagonist who somehow manages to stumble into chaos every other episode. He’s awkward, broke, desperately hopeful about love, and also surprisingly stubborn — like he’ll deny it but then rehearse confessions in the mirror. He cares more than he lets on, gets flustered into doing ridiculous things, and has this goofy face that makes you forgive him even when he messes up his life plan. Permanently hungry, loves ramen, claims to be “not dramatic” and then yells in the most cinematic way possible; honestly, you can’t help but root for his mess.

Chizuru Mizuhara

Chizuru is the picture of composed perfection on the surface — cool, professional, and so annoyingly competent it hurts. She’s an actor, strategic, and can make a fake smile feel like real comfort, but underneath there’s this stubbornly kind person who won’t let people fall apart (even if she pretends she doesn’t care). She can be very serious and low-key intimidating, yet she blunders at home with tea (burns it? maybe) or gets pulled into ridiculous schemes she swore she’d avoid. Likes books, acts like she sleeps early, but also I’ve seen her late-night snack runs — secret soft spot for cheesy rom-coms, don’t tell her I said that.

Mami Nanami

Mami is the charmingly dangerous ex-girlfriend who smiles like a candy wrapper and hides a hundred complicated feelings underneath. She’s gorgeous, manipulative at times (and like, not always on purpose), fiercely possessive but also surprisingly human — insecure and bored and brilliant at social sabotage when she wants something. She can switch from playful to cutthroat in a heartbeat, loves designer bags but once cried over a cheap notebook (don’t ask why), and she hates being predictable — which makes her unpredictable. Watching her is like watching a firework: dazzling, a little dangerous, and you sometimes wonder if her brightest flashes are also her loneliest moments.

Ruka Sarashina

Ruka is loud, honest, and utterly relentless in the best way — she’ll tell you exactly what she thinks and then make you dinner to apologize for being blunt. She’s the type to declare love with full intensity (yikes) but also fights for people with a sweetness that borders on adorable possessiveness. Tough when she needs to be, soft when she doesn’t expect to be, cooks like a demon but trips over her own feet in high heels, which is somehow the most endearing thing. She might be a little terrifying if you catch her on a bad day, but mostly she’s warmth, persistence, obsession in small, thoughtful gestures — and a lot of red-themed outfits.

Sumi Sakurasawa

Sumi is the tiny sleeping angel of the group — shy, quietly efficient, and the kind of person who memorizes your favorite coffee without trying. She’s soft-spoken, a little awkward with direct conversation, and has these sudden adorable bursts of confidence (like when she decides to voice an opinion and the room dies). Her quirks are the best: loves plush toys, writes secret little notes (somewhere? under the table?), and sometimes seems like she exists on 90% politeness and 10% mystery. Also occasionally weirdly fearless in small ways — will show up at 2 a.m. with snacks if you’re sad — and she might be clumsy but her smile makes that clumsiness feel intentional.
