Meet the characters from DanMachi

Asterius

Oh man, Asterius is that hulking, gentle bruiser who looks like he should be smashing doors but actually hugs kittens on the side (not kidding, maybe he doesn’t actually hug kittens, wait he does, sometimes). He’s the kind of quiet powerhouse who speaks with actions more than words and will absolutely carry the whole party when needed — and then quietly insist he didn’t do anything heroic. There’s a weird old-soul vibe to him, like he collects tiny things in a pouch (coins? buttons? bones?) and gets unexpectedly poetic about sunsets. Also, he probably loves grilled meat a little too much and has opinions about seasoning that he will never share unless bribed with… bacon?

Revis

Revis is this sharp-tongued, quick-witted schemer who always looks like they’ve got three plans ahead and a snarky comment tucked in their sleeve. They have the type of eyes that notice everything — which is both useful and alarming — and they will absolutely critique your choice of bread in the most glorious way. Part strategist, part chaotic friend, Revis is the one who can dismantle a trap and then doodle on the map for fun (doodles are suspiciously elaborate). Also, apparently they have a soft spot for bad puns and tiny pastries, which I did not see coming but here we are.

Ais Wallenstein

Ais is peak quiet badass — the “Sword Princess” who walks in like a breeze and leaves everyone a little breathless and definitely a little jealous of her sword skills. Stoic, focused, and honestly a little mysterious; she’s the legend on the field who doesn’t crave praise but gets it anyway, which is annoying if you’re the type who likes drama. She has this weirdly adorable habit of concentrating so hard she forgets to eat, or maybe she always eats — I can’t remember — but she definitely has a favorite snack she denies having (liar). Underneath the calm there’s a stubborn streak — fierce loyalty and this grief-tinged determination that makes her fights personal and poetic, in a very dramatic sword anime way.

Ottar

Ottar is pure brawny bravado with a huge laugh and maybe too many horns on his helmet (or does he just have a very expressive hat? it’s hard to say). Loud, affectionate, a little reckless, and somehow always two steps away from starting a bar fight even when the bar was perfectly fine before him. But don’t be fooled — he’s absurdly warm-hearted, the kind of guy who will pick up stray allies and carry them back to safety while telling terrible jokes the whole time. Also, he collects epic-sounding nicknames and will absolutely introduce himself with three different ones depending on the day, so good luck.

Alfia

Alfia gives me serious no-nonsense mentor-energy, like the person who runs the place with a clipboard and a sword, but secretly hums show tunes when no one’s looking (don’t tell). She’s organized, sharp, and a little world-weary, the type who keeps people in line and also bakes surprisingly decent bread — or maybe it’s cookies, my memory is cupcake-adjacent here. She’s that steady hand in the chaos, practical to the bone but with an unexpected soft spot for underdogs and ridiculous pets (ferrets? a tiny dragon?). Honestly, she sounds strict but will melt if you feed her one decent casserole, so feed her.

Zald

Zald is the charmingly unreliable rogue-ish type who smiles too much and knows every tavern secret in the city (seriously, it’s like he subscribes to the gossip newsletter). Slick, clever, and with a tendency to disappear right when things get awkward — only to reappear with an important key or a weird trinket he swore he “found.” He’s loyal in his own fashion, which means you will have to decode his affection via cryptic one-liners and the occasional heroic butt-save. Also, he hoards postcards from places he’s never been? I think that’s true, or maybe he draws the places instead, either way it’s adorably suspicious.

Albert Waldstein

Albert is the firm, older knightly type — steady armor, sharper principles, teacher vibes — like someone who organizes training drills and also tells you to stand up straight with a terrifying fondness. He’s strict but fair, deeply honorable, and has that classic “grumpy mentor who actually adores the kids” energy; he will scold you and then quietly fix your gear at midnight. There’s a soft, almost teasing side that sneaks out when he talks about duty or history (and also when he catches you sneaking dessert, because yes he notices). Also, he probably reads romance novels in secret? No, that can’t be right… but also maybe it is, and that’s why he’s secretly so dramatic.
