Meet the characters from Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

Kaguya Shinomiya

Oh my god Kaguya is pure aristocratic fever dream — cold, calculating, and secretly a blubbering romantic (but she would never admit it out loud, obviously). She runs the mental chessboard of the student council like a general, plotting these ridiculous high-stakes “will they/won’t they” maneuvers that are somehow both brilliant and painfully petty. She’s elegant and ruthless and also has this tiny, explosive obsession with sweets — like, the queen of etiquette who will stomp through a cake shop at 3 a.m. (don’t picture it, but also do). She’s competent to the point of terrifying, yet will faint at the sight of a bug or get flustered over karaoke — contradictions are her aesthetic.

Miyuki Shirogane

Miyuki is the overworked, sleep-deprived brainiac who somehow became the embodiment of “too proud to rest” and I adore him for it. He’s the student council president type: obsessive about grades, ridiculously earnest, and constantly trying to prove himself (even when it’s totally unnecessary). He’s brave and surprisingly adorable in his panic moments — like he’ll give a rousing speech and then immediately spiral about punctuation. He acts like the responsible one but also has this weird habit of taking on wild DIY repairs at home (he’s not great at them, but bless him).

Chika Fujiwara

Chika is a walking sugar rush and pure chaos energy, the icon of “cute but deadly” in the best way — she bounces into a situation and changes all the rules just for fun. She’s an idol-esque whirlwind: brilliant at board games, infectious with her enthusiasm, and somehow absolutely terrible at being taken seriously (which is the point). Also, she’s secretly a master of creating utter confusion — like a retired spy crossed with a pastel-haired confetti cannon, but she’ll also teach you how to tango at 2 a.m. for reasons. She forgets things within seconds and then remembers them dramatically (or not), and that’s basically her charm.

Yu Ishigami

Ishigami is the broody loner with a surprisingly soft core, you know the type — sullen face, sharp tongue, but will drop everything for his friends without a second thought. He’s sardonic and gloomy but hilarious in a dry, accidental way; sarcasm is his armor (and also his hobby). He collects odd little comforts — snacks, figurines, and grudges — and is inexplicably good at tech stuff or whatever needs quiet, grumpy competence. He’s got trauma and depth and also this hidden goofball streak where he’ll do something embarrassingly sweet (and then deny it, of course).

Ai Hayasaka

Hayasaka is the ultimate multi-role machine: maid, confidente, spy, and low-key fashion icon who can kill you with a look and then photoshop your hair for an event. She’s elegant, razor-sharp, and unnervingly competent — she plans things down to the last detail and casually adapts personas like outfits. But don’t be fooled, she has this ridiculous soft side for romance dramas and cute animals (she swears she doesn’t, then cries a little at cat videos). She’s the kind of person who’s always three steps ahead, but will sometimes do an unexpectedly silly impersonation just to mess with people.

Miko Ino

Miko is the fiercely moral, goody-two-shoes-but-not-actually one, and she’s both a rule-stickler and low-key terrifying when riled up. She’s passionate about justice, community service, and making everyone follow the handbook (she carries a binder, probably). Underneath that strict exterior is a genuinely caring person who’s awkward about compliments and suspiciously fond of cheesy detective shows — like, she judges you but also takes notes to help. She’s prim and proper until the moment she loses her patience, at which point she becomes a tiny whirlwind of righteous fury (also loves spicy food even though she pretends not to).
