Welcome to Quiz: Which Hawaii Five-0 Character Are You

About “Hawaii Five-0” in a few words:

Hawaii Five-0 is a television series that originally aired from 2010 to 2020. It is a reboot of the 1968 show of the same name and follows an elite task force called Five-0, led by the no-nonsense former Navy SEAL Steve McGarrett. The team includes members with diverse backgrounds and specialties, including detectives, computer experts, and a former professional surfer. Together, they take on the toughest criminal cases in Hawaii and always get the job done, often with high-octane action and thrilling suspense.

Meet the characters from Hawaii Five-0

Steve McGarrett

Steve is the rock of Five-0 — Navy SEAL turned boss-type who commands with this intense, quiet stare and a ridiculous amount of willpower. He’s all discipline and mission-first, but also has these weird soft spots (like family shrines and, I swear, he actually reads cards from mom sometimes). He’ll kick down a door and then make you tea? Maybe. Famous for “Book ’em, Danno” and for being annoyingly competent at everything, which is sometimes admirable and sometimes exhausting for everyone around him.

Danny Williams

Danny is the loud, sarcastic, totally New Jersey heart of the show — bickering partner to Steve and emotional core a lot of the time. He’s a family-guy to the bone (kids, custody stuff, takeout on the table) and also allergic to island time, which makes for great comedy but also real loyalty. He’ll grumble about luaus and then show up with a casserole at 2 a.m., so yeah, contradictions are his vibe. Also constantly cracks jokes but can pivot to terrifyingly good detective work in a second.

Kamekona

Kamekona is the beloved hustler-turned-entrepreneur who knows everyone and everything (and sells everything too — tours, shrimp, info, probably macaroni salad). He’s the kind of guy who will give you a conspiracy theory and a coupon for a boat ride in the same breath, and yes, he talks in the most delightful tangents. Slightly shady? Sure, but mostly good-hearted and surprisingly sentimental about his weird little family of businesses. He’s the comic relief that somehow becomes the emotional glue — and he probably has a blessedly inconsistent memory about everyone’s birthdays.

Chin Ho Kelly

Chin Ho is the steady moral compass and longtime cop who radiates honor and quietly smolders. He’s seen the corruption and came out as a principled, sometimes weary, but resolute detective who still believes in doing what’s right (even when it’s complicated). He’s got this calm, grandfatherly presence but also will put you in cuffs without blinking — respectful and fierce, which is somehow an adorable combo. Also, I could swear he hums old Hawaiian tunes when he’s thinking — maybe that’s just in my head, but it’s cute.

Kono Kalakaua

Kono is fearless, whip-smart, and has this surfer-can-do-it energy that makes you root for her instantly. She’s a rookie-turned-pro who punches above her weight and also wants all the justice for everyone, which sometimes gets her in trouble — or into dramatic motorcycle chases, you know. She’s both sweet and terrifying (sweet when she brings you rescue dogs, terrifying when she’s arresting your cousin), and she looks great doing pretty much anything. Small quirk: alternates between being a rule-follower and a complete rule-smasher depending on the episode, which I love.

Lou Grover

Lou is the big, steady ex-military/SWAT leader who brings muscle, honor, and surprisingly dry one-liners to the team. He’s the guy who’s all about structure and discipline but also tries really hard to be warm and community-focused — like a dad who coaches little league on weeknights. He’s got this “I’ll protect you” aura but also shows these glimpses of vulnerability, which makes him way more than just the big tough guy. Also he sometimes has weirdly specific hobbies? I can’t remember — fishing? woodworking? Both, probably.

Duke Lukela

Duke is the old-school cop with an enormous heart and the kind of reliability that makes you feel very safe, immediately. He’s seen everything in Honolulu and responds with patience, wisdom, and an occasional deadpan that should be a meme. He’s fatherly and tough in tiny doses, and he’ll quietly fix what needs fixing without a fuss — and then probably offer you poi. (Or maybe he wouldn’t; memory’s fuzzy, but he definitely offers solid advice.)

Max Bergman

Max is the delightfully cranky medical examiner who is equal parts brilliant and delightfully petty — think dry sarcasm and immaculate lab coats. He gives zero nonsense in the morgue but somehow has a soft spot for the team’s stupid jokes, which he’ll deny to anyone who asks. He’s obsessively precise about details and also kind of theatrical about cadavers, which is oddly comforting? Also collects weird vintage anatomy books, obviously.

Jerry Ortega

Jerry is the wild-haired brains-and-theory guy who lives to connect dots nobody else even sees, and he does it with conspiracy flair and enormous enthusiasm. He’s like a walking, talking file cabinet of pop-culture, urban legends, and Hawaiian folklore — part detective, part eccentric historian, part human search engine. He’s goofy and intense and somehow always right often right enough, and he brings this joyful chaos to the team that you didn’t know you needed. Also: he probably has a ridiculous shrine to unsolved cases in his apartment; not confirmed, but likely.

Adam Noshimuri

Adam is the quietly dangerous but reformed type — ex-Yakuza who tries hard to be a better man, father, whatever, and it’s messy and beautiful. He walks the line between past loyalties and new life, protective in a way that looks calm on the surface but could snap into fierce in half a second. There’s a soft romantic side (yes, he’s romantic in his own awkward way) and also an unnervingly composed side that keeps people guessing. He’s the “I will protect you and also cook rice perfectly” kind of character — serious with tiny domestic surprises.
