Meet the characters from The King’s Avatar

Ye Xiu

Oh man, Ye Xiu is that infuriatingly perfect mix of genius and couch-potato — legendary pro, master tactician, but also the kind of guy who will nap through a crisis if you let him. He treats Glory like a chessboard and tea like sacrament, though he’ll somehow be both casual and obsessively precise in the same breath. He’s calm and unflappable on the surface but secretly tinkers with everything until it’s just right (and also forgets to wash his socks, apparently). Everyone calls him a mentor, a wildcard, and a walking encyclopedia of game lore; he’ll correct your strategy and your pronunciation while making a snack.

Chen Guo

Chen Guo is pure chaotic entrepreneurship wrapped in ponytails and too-bright enthusiasm — shop owner, hype person, and relentless supporter all rolled into one. She runs her little business like it’s a fortress of optimism and will cheerleaf you into believing anything, even if she’s wildly overdramatic about it later. She’s got this ridiculous knack for keeping everyone fed and supplied (also a suspicious number of memorized coupons), and she’s stubbornly loyal in a way that makes you want to hug her and also sign a contract. At the same time she’ll flip between being hilariously clumsy and unnervingly shrewd, which honestly is the best kind of chaos.

Tang Rou

Tang Rou is fire and glitter and that kind of player who learns by smashing into walls and then becoming unstoppable, like she binged the whole game in a week and decided to rewrite the meta. She’s fiercely passionate, sometimes hilariously blunt, and has this “I will do it my way” energy that’s basically contagious — also somehow she collects plushies even though she swears she doesn’t. She can be impulsive to the point of punching keyboards (not literally? maybe literally sometimes) but also has this surprising depth of focus when it counts. You can tell she’s the sort of teammate who will scream in victory and then calmly patch everyone up five minutes later.

Su Mucheng

Su Mucheng looks like she stepped out of a calm postcard — elegant, precise, and quietly devastatingly good, and yes she probably irons her in-game avatar’s outfit (or at least I like to imagine she does). She’s polite and composed but don’t mistake that for being soft; she’s fiercely competitive and has a razor-sharp mind for coordination and timing. There’s a sweetness to her loyalty, especially around a certain someone, but she also hides little habits like hoarding snacks in her desk or humming when she’s concentrating. She’s the kind of person who’ll organize the strat and still make it look effortless, which makes everyone both relieved and slightly awed.

Huang Shaotian

Huang Shaotian is the flashy, wealthy prodigy who swaggers into the room with the confidence of someone who read the manual twice and then ignored it for fun. He’s brilliant, flashy, a little arrogant, but also surprisingly loyal to friends and big on the theatrical side of competition — tuxedos and hoodies, apparently both essentials in his closet. He likes to keep control and show off, but every now and then you’ll catch him being annoyingly sincere about teamwork (it’s cute, honestly). He’s the kind of rival you love to hate, and then secretly admire when he actually helps you win or whatever.

Qiao Yifan

Qiao Yifan is the quiet strategist who keeps a notebook like it’s a sacred text and probably mutters to himself in three different languages when planning a raid. He’s meticulous, a tad mysterious, and the sort of player who notices the tiny patterns everyone else misses — also claims to dislike drama but will instigate it with a single eyebrow raise. He’s calm under pressure, a reliable pillar, and also kind of terrifying in clutch moments (in a good way), and yes he absolutely owns more pens than is reasonable. Sometimes he seems emotionless and then he’ll surprise everyone by being oddly sentimental about the most random things, which I love.
