Meet the characters from Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!

Iruma Suzuki

Okay, Iruma is the heart of the whole show — awkward, ridiculously kind, and somehow always polite even when sold to demons (like what?). He stumbles through demon society like a sleepy tourist who accidentally solves every problem, and you just want to hug him and also protect him from his own panic attacks. He’s surprisingly adaptable and has this quiet bravery that pops up at the exact weirdest times, like in the middle of a classroom crisis or while peeling an orange for literally no reason. Also he gets inexplicably obsessed with snacks sometimes, then acts like he’s never eaten in his life.

Alice Asmodeus

Alice is the “I’ll murder you with affection” type of best friend — proud, loyal, and perfect for a dramatic slow-burn bromance with Iruma, honestly. He’s flashy, a little overconfident, but will literally move heaven and hell to back his people up; also he has an almost samurai code of honor that sometimes makes him extra dramatic. He can be blunt to the point of being unhelpful but then turns into the world’s softest couch for his friends, which is wild. Also he hoards pens? Or swords? I can’t remember — either way it fits him.

Ameri Azazel

Ameri is the kind of elegant nightmare who runs the Student Council and makes you straighten your posture by fear alone — beautiful, intimidating, and oddly gentle when it matters. She’s very “scary on the outside, scandalously romantic on the inside” — like, will assassinate your sense of decorum but also be the person writing shoujo poetry at midnight. There’s a strictness and dignity to her that’s totally balanced by little soft habits (she probably waters her plants with very dramatic concentration). She also might have a secret candy stash or a weird obsession with ribbons, which is adorable and slightly suspicious.

Clara Valac

Clara is pure chaos energy in a human (or demon?) body — hyperactive, loud, and impossibly optimistic, she bounces into scenes like confetti and chaos follows in the best way. She forgets details constantly but remembers the emotional vibe of a moment forever; also she giggles at the worst possible times and then tries to explain things with impossible metaphors. She’s ridiculously loyal and somehow makes even the most serious people smile, and she collects tiny gimmicky trinkets that make no sense. Sometimes she’s terrifyingly focused for five seconds and you think she’s a genius, then five minutes later she’s trading snacks with a skeleton.

Kalego Naberius

Kalego is the delightfully harsh teacher who doubles as a caffeinated research demon and very probably owns seven different pairs of glasses. He’s harsh, sarcastic, and will verbally disembowel you during class, but also secretly cares too much and uses sarcasm like an awkward hug. He collects rare books and terrible puns and has this whole “don’t get close” vibe that melts around students he actually respects — cue internal screaming, obviously. Also, he might be into gardening? Like, stern botanist with a love for poisonous begonias.

Sullivan

Sullivan is the enormous, beaming adoptive grandfather who makes demondom feel like a cozy amusement park — huge smile, louder laugh, and a ridiculous amount of love for Iruma. He’s equal parts terrifying overlord and doting grandpa, and he runs the school with that baffling combo of whimsy and absolute power (which is somehow comforting). He collects tiny teacups (or maybe tiny flags?), throws parties, and will bench-press your existential dread while handing out cookies. Sometimes he’s as silly as a child and other times he’s the kind of presence that makes the whole room hush, and both are equally him.

Opera

Opera is delightfully theatrical and low-key mysterious — imagine someone who speaks like they’re narrating a play and then punches you with kindness. They’re dramatic in the best way, loves music or weird theatrics, and drops one-liners that are equal parts unsettling and inspirational. Quiet but intense, they have these tiny habits like humming during tests or adjusting their cape in a way that feels like a performance cue. Also they might be obsessed with tea rituals or collecting tickets from imaginary concerts — it’s theatrical, probably unnecessary, and absolutely charming.
