Oh man, Rentt is such a delightfully deadpan main character — literally undead, but don’t let that make you think he’s bleak. He’s clever, stubborn, and weirdly sentimental about battle plans and research notes (he’ll organize a skeleton army and then alphabetize their names, I swear). He leads with this calm, almost surgical pragmatism but then surprises you with a tiny, ridiculous soft spot for stray animals or a stupid song he hums when no one’s watching. He’s the kind of person who thinks in spreadsheets and feels in rare, sudden bursts — also possibly hoards socks? Not sure, I might be mixing him up with someone else, but it’s endearing.

Lorraine Vivie

Lorraine is pure fire in human form — proud, exacting, and somehow both terrifying and adorably protective at once. She’ll scold you for breathing wrong but also be the first to charge into a fight, and she has this whole regal aura that makes people listen even when she’s being a total tsundere. Beneath the steel and volume-control sarcasm there’s loyalty that would move mountains (or at least force them to apologize), and she probably has a secret hobby like competitive tea-making or collecting tiny battle pennants. Sometimes she’s ruthless and other times she’s a cinnamon roll who cries over broken pottery; totally inconsistent, and I love it.

Rina Rupaage

Rina is the chaotic spark — chipper, slippery, and somehow both annoyingly cheerful and insanely brave when it counts. She bounces around the scene with half-formed plans and a grin, stealing moments (and maybe snacks) while also being shockingly competent at scouting and improvising — like, “oh I wasn’t paying attention” and then single-handedly saving the day. She talks fast, forgets things, but remembers the one weird detail that actually matters, and she has a weird obsession with glitter or bells or something shiny (it changes). You’ll never be bored around Rina, even if you occasionally want to throttle her — in a good way, I promise.

Sheila Ibarss

Sheila is quietly formidable — calm, watchful, and the kind of person who reads a room and a battlefield at the same time. She’s steady, practical, and often the voice of reason (also the one who will stab a monster with clinical efficiency and then apologize to it for the mess). There’s this lovely undercurrent of mystery around her past and hobbies — she might crochet or collect war medals, I can’t decide, and she sometimes surprises everyone with deadpan jokes that land like a dagger. Loyal to a fault, slightly intimidating, and oddly soft about pets or old songs, which is the best kind of contradiction.
