Meet the characters from Arthur
Arthur Read
Okay, Arthur is the big-hearted, slightly anxious but totally dependable guy everyone roots for — he’s basically that friend who will organize the group hangout and forget his own snack. He’s curious, loves reading and drawing (and also video games? yes, both), and somehow manages to be sensible and embarrassing at the same time. He’s super loyal to his family and friends, but will also spiral into melodrama over the smallest thing — like missing a library book and acting like it’s the end of the world. Also, I could swear he has a secret talent for goofy dances that he only busts out at 2 a.m. in the living room.
D.W. Read
D.W. is chaotic adorable — bossy, dramatic, endlessly confident and also tiny-but-ferocious, like a pocket-sized tornado with a vocabulary. She’ll argue the law of the universe one minute and then demand to be carried the next, and honestly that contradiction is her charm. Precocious, opinionated, and endlessly theatrical, she’s the kind of kid who turns a trip to the grocery store into a three-act play. Little fun fact (or was it from my memory?): she sometimes hates bedtime but also has this weirdly philosophical side where she’ll ask about life’s big questions at breakfast.
Buster Baxter
Buster is the goofy, snack-obsessed, adventure-craving best friend who you can always count on to drag you into something weird but delightful. He loves movies, snacks, and conspiracy-level theories about space and, like, where the best donuts are hidden — and yes he once spent the night in a weird place just for the story. Soft-hearted under his wacky ideas, he’s loyal and a tiny bit flaky, which somehow works because his optimism fills whatever gaps there are. He’s basically the friend who will cry at a cartoon but then convince you it’s the best day ever five minutes later.
Francine Frensky
Francine is fierce, sporty, and extremely confident — a natural leader who’ll tackle anything from a baseball game to a debate about friendship with the same intensity. She’s tough but also weirdly sentimental (surprise!) and has this stubborn streak that can be both inspiring and infuriating depending on the episode. Loves music and drums? maybe guitar once? — point is she’s artsy and athletic, which is an absolute power combo. And she’ll defend her friends like a warrior poet, which is very Francine of her.
Muffy Crosswire
Muffy is glamour, gossip, and generosity wrapped in shiny pink packaging — rich, bossy, fashion-obsessed, but also secretly kind in ways she doesn’t always admit. She’ll throw the best parties and also accidentally start a minor diplomatic crisis in the school cafeteria, but then sponsor a charity bake sale to make it awkwardly okay. She can be shallow-sounding but there’s depth if you scratch the rhinestones — volunteer days, big ideas, and surprisingly loyal friendships. Also she claims to hate camping but will pose for a “rustic influencer” selfie in a tent, because of course she would.
Brain
The Brain is the quietly brilliant, slightly nerdy kid who knows way too much about random facts and also always has a plan — the unofficial problem-solver of the group. He’s super logical and studious and sometimes socially awkward, but in the best, sweetest way — he’ll use giant words and then forget where he left his lunch. There’s this lovable rigidity to him (lists! flashcards! schedules!) that coexists with odd little quirks, like an unexpected love for cheesy pop songs or collecting bizarre trinkets. He’s the friend you want next to you during a science fair and also the one who will stay up making snacks for everyone at 2 a.m., which is somehow very Brain.
