Meet the characters from Dark Gathering

Yayoi Hozuki

Yayoi is the kind of character who seems calm on the surface but you just know something’s simmering underneath — she’s low-key intense and kind of refuses to be small about anything. She’s the steady hand in chaos, the one who gives orders and then hums to herself like she’s remembering a song; sometimes she’s suddenly giggly, which makes everyone more confused (in the best way). She’s got this weirdly specific love for old paper and incense — like, she will rearrange an altar and then complain about the lighting — and she’s not above scolding people she absolutely adores. Honestly, she’s both terrifying and comforting at the same time, and I can never decide if she’s plotting or daydreaming.

Kentaro Gentoga

Kentaro is the loud, lovable quake of energy who crashes into a room and immediately makes it weirder — in a good way — always ready with a dumb joke or a shoulder to lean on. He’s the muscle but also the heart, super dramatic about ramen choices and suspiciously into conspiracy podcasts when he’s not pretending he hates them. Somehow he manages to be both annoying and essential; he forgets birthdays but remembers the exact temperature you like your tea, which makes zero sense but I love him for it. He has this goofy swagger but you can tell he’d throw down for his friends without blinking, and also sometimes he cries at commercials, don’t tell him I said that.

Eiko Hozuki

Eiko is quietly complicated — the sort who reads too much and whispers spoilers under her breath but really means well (or at least thinks she does). She’s observant in a slightly creepy way, noticing the way light falls on someone’s shoulder and then offering you peppermint candies like that explains everything. She oscillates between being painfully shy and suddenly ferociously protective, like a cat that will hide under a table and also jump on your head if you’re sad. Honestly, she’s my favorite kind of awkward genius who keeps little lists in the margins of her notebooks and sometimes tears them up for dramatic effect.

Ai Kamiyo

Ai is delightfully mysterious — equal parts elegant ghost-hunter vibes and tired student who forgot to eat breakfast again, which makes her very relatable. She’s got that cool, unreadable face where you can only guess what she’s thinking (and your guesses are probably wrong but also entertaining). She collects tiny trinkets from weird places and smiles like she knows a secret that she’s not sharing, which drives people insane in the best way; also she might have a terrible habit of leaving socks everywhere, not sure how that fits but it’s canon in my head. She’s aloof but weirdly tender with certain people, and I swear she hums lullabies when she’s plotting, so, you know, complex vibes.
