Marcille Donato

Marcille is the elegant, slightly snobby elf mage who secretly gets way too excited about the science of cooking monsters — like, she’ll lecture you on agar gels one minute and squeal over a perfectly seared slime the next. She’s all poise and sharp spells but also collects weird cookbooks and herbal teas, sometimes contradicting herself by insisting she hates “peasant food” while polishing off a pile of grilled bug legs. Very analytical, very proud, and somehow endlessly curious; she’ll dissect a recipe with the same intensity she uses a magic scroll. Also, she has this tiny habit of adjusting other people’s collars when they’re stressed, which is either sweet or terrifying depending on your perspective.

Senshi

Senshi is the quiet, stick-to-your-ribs type — you’d call him a swordsman maybe, or a stoic bodyguard, but labels feel small; he’s the kind of dude who will calmly skewer a giant centipede and then sigh about how soggy the bread is. He doesn’t talk much, which makes everything he does louder, and there’s a weird softness to him under all the battle-scar bravado (honestly, sometimes he’ll hum a lullaby while sharpening his blade and I’m dead). He’s annoyingly competent at weird survival tricks and also inexplicably bad at reading maps, which I still don’t understand. Chilchuck Tims

Chilchuck is the tiny, perpetually flustered halfling who handles the pennies, the traps, and the group’s morale in about that order; he’s the one always checking the inventory and also the one who will try inventing a fork from a spider leg just because. He panics in the cutest way — squeaky, wide-eyed, but then he’ll pull a ridiculously clever move out of nowhere and you’re like, where did that come from? He’s kind of a walking contradiction: an anxious accountant with a secret love of risk, equal parts coward and thrill-seeker. Also, he hoards spices like they’re heirlooms and will emotionally negotiate for an extra pinch of pepper.

Laios Touden

Laios is the big, impulsive leader — sword-first, questions-never, but also terrible at emotional subtlety (which is charming? maybe?). Obsessed with rescuing his sister and obsessed with food in roughly equal measure, he’ll plan a dungeon dive around a rumored delicacy and then guilt-trip himself into a rescue mission, sometimes in the same breath. He’s brave to a fault, stubborn as a mule, and has this ridiculous habit of taste-testing everything (sometimes with his bare hands, gross but effective). Also, he claims he’s a minimalist but carries thirty different knives and like four journals full of recipes, so pick a lane, Laios.

Kabru

Kabru is the gruff, muscley type — think blunt weapon expert who laughs at danger and then writes sentimental haikus in the margins of his battle plans (don’t tell him I said that). He looks like he was carved out of rock, will roast anything with a beating heart without shame, and yet he’s got this ridiculous soft spot for tiny, injured things — will stop in the middle of a fight to bandage a wounded slug, I’m not joking. He’s loud, blunt, and sometimes way more tender than you’d expect; he also loves terrible puns and insists they’re “warrior humor.” Honestly, his contradictions are the best part — scary but kind, blunt but oddly poetic.

Falin Touden

Falin is the quiet heart of the whole mess — delicate in a way that fools no one because she’s quietly braver and weirder than half the party, and also inexplicably into ornate embroidery while dangling off cliff edges. She’s the reason the rescue matters, obviously, but she’s also this surprising culinary fan in her own right, fascinated by how monsters taste and what that means (which is creepy and adorable at once). Gentle, curious, a little mysterious — she’ll blush at compliments and then correct your knife grip like a pro, which is very not what you expected. Also, rumor has it she’s got a cookbook of her own ideas tucked somewhere and I will personally hunt it down someday.
