About “Edens Zero” in a few words:
Edens Zero is an anime series based on the manga of the same name by Hiro Mashima. Set in a futuristic universe where humans coexist with robots and aliens, the story follows the adventures of a young boy named Shiki Granbell, who embarks on a journey to explore different planets and make new friends. Along the way, he meets the spunky and talented space pirate Rebecca Bluegarden and the mysterious and cunning Weisz Steiner. Together, they face numerous challenges and confront powerful enemies while uncovering the secrets of the universe.
Meet the characters from Edens Zero
Shiki Granbell
Shiki is the absolute heart of Edens Zero, this goofy, golden-haired kid who treats robots like pets and strangers like family. He punches things to say hello sometimes — no, really, his idea of greeting is elbowing danger in the face and then offering tea? He has this ridiculous optimism that makes you want to follow him into black holes, but he also gets quiet and serious in a way that makes you realize he’s carrying a lot more history than he lets on. He’s stubborn, heroic, kind of a mess with directions, and honestly probably would adopt a planet if it asked nicely.
Rebecca Bluegarden
Rebecca is the bubbly, camera-toting B-Cuber who somehow balances livestreaming with being a surprisingly competent combat ally. She talks fast, cries sometimes at the drop of a hat (or a plot twist), and has this weirdly soothing laugh that steals the scene even when she’s panicking. She’s an actual soft noodle with steel under the fluff — loves fashion and snacks but will absolutely strategize a fight and then post a selfie about it. Also, she appreciates good PR, hates bugs, and probably totes two spare batteries in her bag at all times.
Happy
Happy is the blue Exceed with an attitude smaller than his body but a heart three times as big, and yes he says “Aye, sir!” like he’s on some pirate ship even when there’s no ship. He lives for adventure, fishing, and picking the exact wrong moment to be adorably useless which somehow makes him essential. He offers emotional support, sarcasm, and a reliable pair of ears — also wings; who knew a cat could be a spaceship chow-chum? Occasionally he judges fashion choices silently, which is terrifying because he’s a cat and therefore always judging.
Weisz Steiner
Weisz is the gruff, scar-sporting pilot with a dry wit and a soft spot he hides behind sunglasses and barbed comments. He mutters a lot, has weird hobbies like repairing things that are probably cursed, and is relentless about getting things done — even if he complains the whole time. There’s a depth to him; he’s loyal in a way that sneaks up on you and he’ll risk too much for his friends, which is both heroic and slightly reckless. Oh and he has that whole complex family baggage thing, but also collects stuff in his pockets for no reason.
E.M. Pino
Pino is this tiny, ferocious robot librarian with an attitude that’s somehow both snarky and warm — like if a raccoon learned calligraphy and ancient curses. She scowls, she grades your life choices, but she’ll also throw herself into danger because someone said “mine” and she gets offended on principle. Her mechanical quirks (and a suspiciously fond relationship with snacks) make her equal parts adorable and terrifying, and she refuses to be underestimated. Also she occasionally quotes things she shouldn’t know and winks like it’s a secret, which is delightful.
Four Shining Stars
The Four Shining Stars are these ace mercenaries who run the spaceship like a chaotic, efficient family — think professional chaos with matching uniforms. They’re deadly, they’re stylish, and somehow they argue over playlists in the middle of boarding maneuvers; teamwork that looks like sibling squabbling. Each of them has a dramatic backstory you could cry about in a blink, but they keep going because of loyalty, pride, and maybe personal snacks hidden in pockets. Also you can always count on them to be overdramatic at checkpoints, which is the best.
Homura Kōgetsu
Homura is low-key terrifyingly skilled — a samurai with a calm smile and an entire honor code that makes you respect him immediately, even if you want to poke him. He’s stoic but not cold, and his moments of dry humor are rare diamonds; when he lets one slip it’s brilliant. Also he carries emotional wounds like scars and looks after the crew with a protective glare that doubles as parenting and murder warning. He likes tea, probably keeps a secret stash of snacks in perfect order, and will fight you if you call him “too stoic” (don’t, won’t end well).
Mosco Versa-0
Mosco is a legend — eccentric, greedy, painfully brilliant and absolutely obsessed with treasure and dangerous technology. He bounces between terrifying mentor mode and petulant greed-child, so you never know whether to listen or hide his keys. He built Edens Zero (ish) and has opinions on everything, including galactic cuisine and moral relativity, and he loves complicated plans that may or may not explode. Also he has a soft spot for reckless kids and probably knows the best pizza in the universe, which is suspiciously specific.
Kris Rutherford
Kris is this quiet, rabbit-eared kid with a way of looking at you like they know your favorite song and your worst secret, and it’s unnerving but sweet. They prefer tinkering to talking, but when they do speak it’s sharp and perceptive, the kind of honesty that actually helps. Kris is loyal to a weird extent, protective in small gestures, and seems to slip through danger with unbelievable luck — or maybe planning, who knows. Oh and they hoard tiny trinkets that may have sentimental value or be supposed to be evidence, so don’t touch their drawer.
Laguna Husert
Laguna is the smooth-talking bounty hunter/pilot with a smile that gets him into rooms and a past that haunts every doorway he ducks into. He’s charming and unreliable in the best way, full of bravado but prone to actual deep remorse when things go sideways, which makes him oddly endearing. He drinks whiskey, tells tall tales that might be true, and has a real talent for getting out of scrapes — and back into the same kind of trouble later. Also he sings bad sea shanties at inopportune times, which is simultaneously comforting and alarming.
