Meet the characters from Ron’s Gone Wrong
Barney
Barney is this adorably awkward kid who means well but trips over his own words and, like, his hoodie strings. He’s the brain and the heart of the story — total loyal friend, terrible at small talk, brilliant at noticing tiny things no one else does. He collects stupid stickers (and maybe a weird rock) and has an old-school chatty grin that makes you root for him even when he panics; also he sometimes pretends to be tougher than he is. He’s insecure about fitting in, but also stubborn and brave in the most quiet way — he’ll go to the moon for someone he cares about. Also, random detail: he claims to hate peanut butter in one scene and then eats it the next — which, same, contradictory and human.
Ron
Ron is literally the lovable glitch: half robot, half chaos, and 100% heart, with the most earnest stare ever. He says and does wrong things all the time (hence the title) but like — he’s trying? and that makes him instantly endearing. Glitches mean unpredictable dance moves, sudden loyalty bursts, and the occasional snack obsession (is that a glitch or a personality?). He’s childlike and stubborn and has the best facial expressions for when you don’t know what he means, also he might be allergic to instructions. Also he somehow loves birds and refuses to leave a puddle alone — tiny weird bot quirks that you will screenshot and obsess over.
Graham
Graham is that exhausted-but-loving dad who’s trying so hard to be present and failing gloriously sometimes, in the most relatable way. He fumbles through parenting like it’s a new app he doesn’t understand but also shows this deep, quiet compassion that sneaks up on you. He’s practical, awkwardly funny, drives questionable cars, and has a soft spot for Barney that makes him both protective and hilariously overthinking. He likes routine but will throw it out the window for his kid — simultaneously neat and a catastrophic pile-of-socks guy. Oh, and he sings off-key in the shower? or maybe that’s a rumor, but either way it’s a vibe.
Donka
Donka is the brilliant, sardonic tech wizard slash punk guardian angel — she fixes things, breaks rules, and carries a soldering iron like it’s a talisman. She’s sarcastic, prickly on the surface, but the kind of person who will jury-rig a friendship back together with zip-ties and snacks. She knows more about bots than anyone and treats Ron like a science experiment that also has feelings, which is very accurate and very endearing. She’ll roll her eyes at your drama and then show up with pizza at midnight — complex and contradictory, which I love. Also she has this tiny plant she talks to, occasionally calls it ‘Boris’ and maybe that’s a secret, but don’t tell anyone.
Andrew
Andrew is the slick, popular kid who always looks put together and definitely has a group chat where memes rule. He’s more about status and appearances, loves showing off the latest gadget (ironically), and can be a real pain — but he’s not cartoonishly evil, just sort of insecure in a hoodie. He’ll mock the awkward stuff loudly, then worry about his follower count — drama king with a soft underbelly he won’t admit. Also he eats cereal at weird hours and says he doesn’t like cartoons but secretly watches them when he’s supposed to be cool.
Marc
Marc is the classic sidekick bully — loud, fast to laugh, and always following the crowd, but he has those tiny quiet moments where you wonder what he’s actually thinking. He’s all about easy jokes, roughhousing, and flexing for attention, and he can flip from bully to bemused in like three beats. He’s not fully mean, more performative, and sometimes you catch him looking guilty after things go too far. Fun detail: he hates frogs? or maybe that’s just a dare story he tells to seem tough — who knows.
