Meet the characters from Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure

Sora Harewataru

Sora is the sort of wide-eyed, sky-obsessed protagonist who makes you want to run outside and feel the wind, like honestly she radiates “let’s go” energy. She’s bubbly and brave and also wildly impulsive — jumps first, thinks later, but somehow the thinking happens midair? — and that mix makes her both super inspiring and occasionally terrifying to her friends. There’s this goofy little hobby where she folds a million paper planes (or maybe that’s something she tried once and swore never again, I’m fuzzy), which somehow feels exactly like her. Deep down she’s stubbornly optimistic, the one who refuses to give up on people even when it’s messy, and yes she cries easily but then grins the next minute.

Nijigaoka Mashiro

Mashiro is posh, dramatic, and utterly charming in a way that could be annoying if it weren’t so sincere — she loves sparkle and ceremonies but also hates being taken too seriously, weird combo. She’s the kind of friend who plans themed tea parties and will also stage an impromptu motivational speech when someone needs it (with perfect posture). Under the frills there’s a surprisingly shrewd brain; she notices things others don’t, like the exact shade of someone’s socks, which is oddly specific but true. She’s kind-hearted, maybe a touch stubborn, and has that little habit of humming to herself when she’s plotting, which is adorable and slightly ominous.

Yuunagi Tsubasa

Tsubasa is all cool, calm, collected — the “steady wing” of the group who looks unimpressed but really cares a whole lot, you can tell by subtle things like the way they tidy other people’s stuff when nobody’s looking. They give off low-key mysterious vibes (the broody type? maybe? sometimes they smile at cats and your entire perception shifts), and they are annoyingly good at being reliable in crises. There’s a quiet confidence, like they read three books a week and also secretly watch cute animal videos at 2 a.m., don’t ask why I know that. Protective but not melodramatic, Tsubasa is the friend you call at 3 a.m. when you need to be rescued — they will come, and bring snacks.

Hijiri Ageha

Hijiri is the straight-laced, slightly prickly one who also happens to have a huge soft center like a very well-guarded marshmallow. She’s disciplined, maybe a little bossy, and has a stare that could shame you into doing your homework, but give her time and she’ll make you soup and listen to your ridiculous conspiracy theories. There’s this dual thing where she’s annoyingly practical (lists! schedules! sighs) yet secretly collects ridiculous stickers or something juvenile that she swears is “research” — I think she cries at commercials, probably. She plays the big-sister role without asking for credit, and the clingy, tiny moments she slips up and shows vulnerability are the best.

Ellee-chan

Ellee-chan is the tiny, squishy mascot energy that somehow steals every scene — think squeaky, mischievous, and wise in ways that make no sense until you think about it and then you can’t unsee it. She flits around being impossibly adorable (yes, there are 800 photos of her in my brain), sparks random chaos, and also dispenses oddly profound advice like a fortune cookie with an attitude. She can be utterly useless when it counts (like, tripping over her own tail) and then heroic five minutes later, which is basically her brand. Also, rumor has it she hoards tiny socks? I might be making that up, but it fits.
