Meet the characters from Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

Scott Pilgrim

Scott is the awkward, lovable mess of a hero who looks like a slacker but will stage a ridiculous guitar duel at the drop of a hat. He’s romantic in the most chaotic way—sincere one minute, immature the next, with video-game logic in his brain and pizza grease on his fingers. Scott can be annoyingly indecisive but also surprisingly brave when it counts, and honestly you root for him even when he keeps making dumb choices. He constantly thinks in metaphors (actual health bars, hearts floating above people—yes, really) which sounds goofy but somehow fits. And he has that odd talent for forgetting lines yet remembering obscure song lyrics from a band he barely paid attention to, which is somehow his charm.

Ramona Flowers

Ramona is the mysterious, rollerblading enigma with ever-changing hair and a guarded heart that you suspect is made of glitter and bike parts. Cool, detached and oddly domestic at times—she’s the type to mail weird packages at 3 a.m. and also make you soup when you’re sad, but she’ll deny both. She’s got a fierce independent streak, fights like a pro, and somehow carries both emotional baggage and a suitcase of spices wherever she goes. There’s a softness under all that coolness though, and she can be contradictory—wildly optimistic about moving on, but also secretly nostalgic in the tiniest, embarrassing ways. Oh and did I mention she changes hair color as if flipping through moods? It’s basically a mood ring with rollerblades.

Wallace Wells

Wallace is the razor-sharp roommate with a smile that says he knows exactly where the bodies are buried and will absolutely comment on your dating life. He’s sarcastic, endlessly supportive in this low-key, theatrical way, and he dresses like an off-duty pop star who moonlights as a life coach. He gives delivery-of-truth speeches at 2 a.m., has zero tolerance for nonsense, but also has the bedside manner of someone who will steal your fries and then comfort you about it. Also, he has ridiculous trivia in his head—like, who stores names of obscure TV show extras?—and is somehow simultaneously the most responsible and most irresponsible person you know.

Kim Pine

Kim is the deadpan drummer with a permanent scowl that’s secretly a smile if you’re looking very hard. She plays like she hates the world and loves it at the same time, and her sarcasm is an art form—sculptural, precise, and slightly dangerous. She used to have crushes and weird teenage histories but will deny all of it; also she brings granola bars to band practice like some kind of low-key hero. She refuses to be cute but has a soft spot for bad puns and will absolutely roll her eyes while secretly laughing.

Stephen Stills

Stephen is the ambitious, slightly pompous frontman who believes in good hair and really good chords—like, he has opinions about everything and will micromanage your vibe. He’s earnest, hardworking, and the kind of guy who’ll rearrange the setlist five times and tell you why each tweak matters, which is adorable and mildly infuriating. He can be vain—locks that obey gravity, tie collection—and also unexpectedly tender, like a guy who secretly writes sad harmonies at 3 a.m. There’s a competitiveness to him that pushes the band and sometimes grates, but it’s because he actually cares, so it sort of works. And yes, he probably owns more sunglasses than sense, and will lecture you about proper capo placement if you let him.

Knives Chau

Knives is the earnest, hyper-adoring fangirl-turned-warrior who starts off squealing and somehow becomes shockingly formidable (don’t sleep on her). She has this open-hearted enthusiasm—screaming “cool!” at everything—and also an almost terrifying capacity for planning mini-strategies and Pinterest-level mood boards. Young, naive and fiercely loyal, she learns to sharpen her spine and opinions, which is both messy and beautiful and makes you want to high-five her and also tuck her into bed. She juggles schoolgirl pastel energy with an emerging toughness and keeps souvenirs from every awkward moment, like a scrapbook and a ninja star (maybe only metaphorically). And yes, she can be annoyingly clingy one minute and eerily independent the next, which feels oddly consistent for her chaos.
